Systems and some of the subsystems that Telematics provides are as follows.

1.2.1 INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS

Information & Communication Technology (ICT) refers to all technologies used to handle and provide access to information through telecommunications. It mainly focuses on communication technologies.
This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums.

1.2.1.1 STRUCTURED CABLING SYSTEMS

A structured cabling is the wiring network of a building or group of building’s telecommunications cabling infrastructure that carries all the data, voice, security, Voice over Internet Protocol, Power over Ethernet, and even wireless connections. It includes cabling, connecting …show more content…
A building must contain at least one telecommunications room, and it should be on the floor it serves.

The two basic choices made for cabling infrastructure are Copper Cable or Fiber Cables, both support superior data transmission.
Copper is less expensive than fiber cable and much easier to terminate in the field and hence is the commonly used. Due to this reason, the selection available for connecting hardware and networking devices is vast, which are also less expensive than fiber equipment.
Types of copper cables include Unshielded twisted pair, Shielded twisted pair, Solid or stranded conductors, PVC or plenum cables; some copper cable categories include Category 3 (CAT3), CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, CAT7 etc.

Fiber optic technology uses light as an information carrier. Fiber is the preferred cable for applications that require high bandwidth, long distances, and immunity to electrical interference. It’s the mostly installed as backbone cable.
