Phase Three With the network topology and employee workstations configured as requested, network functionality and security are a necessity for enterprise protection. Phase three takes into consideration both network and data security. This data security is a combination of both network resources in addition to personnel training. While these objectives have separate outcomes, they work in tandem with each other to provide holistic network security.
Firewalls, Antivirus, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention In the simplest form, firewalls provide a go/no-go gate for passing traffic from the internal network to the internet. By setting up appropriate rulesets, the network administrators restrict and allow different data packages which users and peripheral …show more content…
They provide working instructions and operations for the employee and the network machine to follow. Without these policies, the possibility of network intrusion is greatly increased. Although IDS, IPS, antivirus can prevent intrusions, if the attacker has easy access points from failed security policies, entry to the network is greatly increased. Security policies. A way to prevent all users from having full access to the network, and thus access to unnecessary resources, is to limit their access. The most appropriate way to limit this access is via role-based-access. The administrators will limit what resources each individual has access to depending on what their individual job is. Once an employee changes position (or roles), their access is evaluated and changed accordingly. This prevents employees from gaining more access by access escalation. To enable this process, network administrators will have the ability to assign access resources, but not the ability to access the

...NT1310 Unit 1 Assignment 1. Voice vs Data Cell phones uses voice data networks because talk through one end is sent to the other end of the call. Landline phones uses the same as cell phones SMS/Text messaging uses data networks because it takes and saves an image of text and sends it over to the other end. Fax Machine uses data networks because a file is saved and sent over to the fax machine to be printed out. Pagers uses data networks because it is recorded and saved while being transfer over to the pager. VOIP (voice over IP) phones uses voice data networks. Skype/Facetime uses voice data networks because of live video streaming. Unit 1 Exercise 1, Local Exchange Any movements and sounds on one end is recorded and sent as data through demarc live-tie, to the access networks. Then from access network it would go through metro network (city to city) and regional networks (county to county). From there it travels to long haul (state to state). Then to ocean networks (country to country) if players are out of the country gamers. After all that transfers, it back tracks to the other end of the receiver who is playing the game. Unit 1 Lab 1. Data on Fixed Line vs Cellular Debate Data Speed depends on the environment. One can be faster than the other Network Security both are hackable, but cellular is more of a spoof because it’s a single out in the air to public to pick up while fixed line has firewalls and fiber optics it travels through. NT1310 Physical Networking 9/23/2014 Unit 2 Lab 1: Cloud Computing Research EC2 Amazon: Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. Amazon EC2’s simple web service interface allows you to obtain and configure capacity with minimal friction. It provides you with complete control of your computing resources and lets you run on Amazon’s proven computing environment. Amazon EC2 reduces the time required to obtain and boot new server instances to minutes, allowing you to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as your computing requirements change. Amazon EC2 changes the economics of computing by allowing you to pay only for capacity that you actually use. Amazon EC2 provides developers the tools to build failure resilient applications and isolate themselves from common failure scenarios Amazon, gives you anywhere between 5GB and 1TB depending on how much you want to pay for the amount of memory. Amazon passes on to you the financial benefits of Amazon’s scale. You have a low rate to pay for the compute capacity you use. To use Amazon EC2 you have to: Select a pre-configured, Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to get up and running immediately. Or create an AMI containing your applications, libraries, data, and associated configuration...

...have one domain controller (not recommended), there is nothing to do since all roles must be on this server, but if you have multiple servers you should move some of theese roles on to more servers. It is also important to be aware of what servers are Global Catalog servers, especially if you have more than one domain and even if only one domain, they will be prefered by applications like Exchange server. It is recommended to place the forest roles on one Domain Controller (DC) and the domain roles on another server. If not all Domain Controllers are Global Catalog servers, it is also important to place the infrastructure master on a server that is NOT a Global Catalog server. Recommended Best Practice setup of FSMO roles. Network Topology Paper

...Christopher A. Lee Sr. NT1310 Week 3 Assignment.Network Topology Paper Network topology is the arrangement of the various elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a computer network.[1][2] Essentially, it is the topological[3] structure of a network, and may be depicted physically or logically. Physical topology refers to the placement of the network's various components, including device location and cable installation, while logical topology shows how data flows within a network, regardless of its physical design. Distances between nodes, physical interconnections, transmission rates, and/or signal types may differ between two networks, yet their topologies may be identical. A good example is a local area network (LAN): Any given node in the LAN has one or more physical links to other devices in the network; graphically mapping these links results in a geometric shape that can be used to describe the physical topology of the network. Conversely, mapping the data flow between the components determines the logical topology of the network.
