Transmission:
The TCP/IP provides the computer systems with a method of transmitting the data from one computer to another. The data is transferred from the networks and delivered on to the computers. These computers are categorized as hosts in the system.
This transmission of data is done in the form of packets. The data transmission is done in a sequence of seven layers. Each of these layers has a specific function. These functions are listed as under:

1. Layer-I known as the Physical Layer. This layer contains all the electrical components such as wires, cables, transmitters, receivers, which are required to transmit and receive the data.

2. Layer-II known as the Data Link Layer. This layer provides the unique addressing code on the network such as on the Local Area Network. They also provide the basic method of interconnecting LANs.

3. Layer-III known as the Network Layer. This layer …show more content…
Layer-IV known as the Transport Layer. This is the layer that acts as a connection point between the network layer and the application layers.

5. Layer-V known as the Sessions Layer. In this layer when tow parties communicate with each other that communication constitutes a session.

6. Layer-VI known as the Presentation Layer. In this layer standard methods of formatting and encoding/ decoding the data for transmission across the networks are used.

7. Layer-VII known as the Application Layer. In this layer interfaces for applications are provided to access the internet services.

Transmission Control Protocol:
This is a connection between the sending and receiving host. This is a sequenced and reliable method in which data is transferred between applications.
This is a transport protocol in which the following are followed:
1. Data packets are sent and received in the same order as they were transmitted. In such case there is no chance of any duplication or loss of data packets during transmission.
