This assignment aimed to develop my understanding of the kinds of bizarre problems a system administrator will have to handle. I, as a Chief Information Officer (CIO) and System Administrator have been assigned to fix a broken computing environment. I have to outlining the problems with this computing environment, provide technical or procedural solutions to the problem and provide possible technological solution that may employ to solve a particular problem. One of the requirements of being a System Administrator is to make decisions about overall structures and procedures, and therefore, I have assigned to clean up the organization’s computing. There are few areas I should look into such as organization system and network, administration and management of system and network, service management, security, …show more content…
This means everyone in the organization has the access to the servers. This can make them stealing data from the servers and when one access to the network, he or she can interrupt the boot process and gain access to multiple servers and systems. Hence, a physical security measurement has to be taken to restrict the access to the area besides providing the protection on core routers, cabling, modems, servers, hosts, backup storage and so on. One of the ways is to implement a keycard system for the door locks and is placed in a secured location like a server room where only authorized personnel are allowed to enter.
Furthermore, it is said that the organization’s internet is connected to ADSL modem to the router, which the router connects to several 10MB hubs which provide access to the staff and there is only one local area network (LAN). This will affect the speed of the internet if everyone is using it at the same time as this will make the LAN

...evaluating the performance of the IDS. So our goal is to focus on reducing the computation time and finding an efficient detection mechanism to improve the accuracy rate of the proposed algorithm for recognizing the network traffic. A. Overview The algorithm consists two phases: the classification phase and clustering phase. In the classification phase, the artificial neural network, one of the core methods of Computational Intelligence is used to create the classifier from the known network traffic data. The neural network it identifies the input pattern and tries to output the corresponding class. It can map input patterns to their associated output patterns using their mapping capabilities. They can be trained with known examples of a problem...

...Before proceeding in problem determination, there are some initial questions to be answered. Have you changed anything recently? If you have changed, added, or removed software or hardware just before the problem occurred, back out the change and see if the problem persists. What else is running on the workstation? If you have other software, including a firewall, try switching it off to see if the problem persists. Is the problem reproducible on the same workstation? Knowing that this defect occurs every time the described steps are taken is helpful because it indicates a straightforward programming error. If the problem occurs at alternate times, or occasionally, thread interaction and timing problems in general are much more likely. Is the...
