...Integrative Network Design Project Part 1 NTC/362 May 5, 2014 Fernando Casafranca Integrative Network Design Project The Patton-Fuller Community Hospital looks to upgrade their Information Technology (IT) capability beginning with their networks. The characteristics, components, and topology are evaluated to properly identify the needs for the new network design. The plan includes converting to a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), installing a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and design a Wide Area Network (WAN). The plan also includes the hospital maintaining all Macintosh® computers. Administration/Clinical Overview * The administrative departments run off of a 1000 Base-T Ethernet provided by a CAT 6 cable which is also the entire hospital’s network backbone. Clinical department networks however are provided by a 1000 Base-F Ethernet provided by a single mode fiber. The clinics feed into a Cisco Catalyste 3560 Switch as the network bridge that links the two together. All workstations are Apple iMAC or MAC Pros with the executive management, senior managers, and the data center workstations as having a wireless communication card installed. * IT Data Center * The data center is comprised of the hospital HIS system. The mainframe of the HIS is connected by a 4 gigabit fiber link to a 10 terabyte Network Area Storage (NAS) device. The data center’s workstations are all Apple iMACs that run a MAC OS X from a remote desktop. Virtualization...

Inter Design Network

...Integrative Network Design Project (Kudler Find Foods Inc.) By: Reggie Ellis Course NTC/362 While doing research for Kudler Fine Food, their network needs to be trashed and we need to bring this company into the 21st century with the latest technology. I find this important for Kudler because if the company doesn’t upgrade it’s network it will fall behind there is new technology that is expanding every day. What we will do is make sure Kudler is able to keep up with the advances with network systems and install the proper systems and storage units that are compatible with any type of system and making sure no money is wasted. For one if the improper systems are install it will be unless to the company and bad for business, like if we install only enough data to cover only a year’s worth of data then that wouldn’t be cost effective for the company so will have to spend more money getting more storage. This is our first priority is to make sure we have enough data storage to help the company store as much data as possible. One major problem that we see with Kudler is the 56k modems, which provide slow connections speeds. At Kudler all of the host system are running Window 98 well over 10 years, Windows NT servers are at the Delmar and Lajolla sites, XLS servers at the Delmar and Lajolla sites are running office 97. The Novell servers at Delmar and Lajolla sites are running when they were released in 1994, which are just about 20 years old. Every site has a stand alone...

Telecommunicatoin

...Telecommunication Abraham Romero NTC/362 June 22, 2015 Thomas Krawczyk Telecommunication In this presentation we will discuss the different forms that telecommunication has taken whether it be the electronic telegraph, telephone, radio, television, or the internet. We will discuss each of these individual forms of telecommunication as well as discuss some of the issues these devices/services gave birth to. Telegraph The telegraph is the first device we will be discussing down our trip through telecommunication. Now while many of you are aware of the telegraph some of you are unaware that the science of telegraphy has been around for hundreds of years dating back to the 1800’s. The device we are all familiar with is the electric telegraph, which was developed and patented by Samuel Morse. The telegraph utilized wires to send electrical signals to a specific device. The signals, which were written in Morse code, would allow individuals from two separate locations to communicate with one another. The device became a hit and was slowly incorporated into many different countries such as the United States and England. This device was revolutionary since prior to its inception the only means to receive news was to send letters view messengers. This method was outdated since it would take time for a messenger to ride to and from specific locations. During that time things may have changed and a new letter may be needed. An...

...INDP, Part 4 NTC/362 INDP, Part 4 Kudler Fine Foods is a small network considering that it spans across only three locations. Currently the network is utilizing a dedicated T3 connection between the stores with the La Jolla facility hosting the central servers. Each facility will have two firewalls, one for the intranet and one for the internet. An HP Blade Server model c3000 will be installed at each facility and will serve as the print/file server, communications, email, storage and web server. In addition to the Blade Server system La Jolla will also have a 10TB NAS to maintain records of all system transactions across the network. Operating on the network will be 31 computers, of these computers 13 will belong to the corporate admin and the remaining 18 will be utilized by the local store management. An APC Smart UPS rated at 5000va will be installed in each of the three server rooms. Telephonic communications will be made available using VOIP. La Jolla will have 19 total VOIP phones in order to accommodate the number of corporate administrators, the Del Mar and Encinitas facilities will only have 6 VOIP phones. The standards being applied to this project are LAN, WAN, Wireless, and VOIP. A LAN or local area network is created when multiple computers or devices are connected as a network providing services and applications within a common structure such as a single business, campus or region. Integrative Network Design

...Integrative Network Design NTC/362 Integrative Network Design Project Kudler Fine Foods is one of the biggest and fastest growing food companies in the Unites States. Because of this fast expansion there are expected and often increased goals that must be done in order to keep all parts of the company working as they should. One of these areas that must be kept up to date and secured at all times is its integrated network. Again because of the company’s recent growth there will be challenges that will happen especially with the network so a good integrative network design must be developed in order to continue this positive trend both in present and in the future. Kudler Fine Foods is taking the next step to upgrade the existing infrastructure with new wireless technology which will provide a better communication link for not only all of the stores, but for all of the employees as well. Kudler Fine Foods wants to implement a new network design that will connect their three locations that is spreaded out across the U.S. With the new systems and servers the ability to maximize the company’s profits will increase overnight. This new inventory system will allow the stores POS systems to alert the warehouses to ship more products when they are running low automatically. This will eliminate the need of wasted man hours checking the stock. Using a Wide Area Network (WAN) would be the best choice for connecting the three locations together. They also want to implement a...

Mcd Edf Abridged 08

...[pic] McDonald's and the Environmental Defense Fund: a case study of a green alliance Sharon Livesey Originally published in…The Journal of Business Communication • January 1999 In 1987, the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development, which had convened to address the global ecological crisis, produced Our Common Future (the Brundtland Report). This watershed event established the conceptual underpinnings for environmental politics and debate in the 1990s by reframing the problem of the natural environment as one of sustainable development. In the wake of this reframing, a new practice in environmental management emerged - that of green alliances or partnerships between business and ecology groups (Westley & Vredenburg, 1991, pp. 71-72). These alliances, considered one of the ten most significant trends in environmental management and the greening of industry (Gladwin, 1993, p. 46), appeared to signal a sea change in the way business, as well as environmentalists, could respond to the ecological impacts of firms' economic activities. Indeed, environmental partnerships offered both business and ecology groups the potential for a new rhetorical stance. Business communication scholarship has identified a variety of rhetorical strategies adopted by corporations in the face of environmental controversy: defensiveness and apologia (e.g., Ice, 1991; Tyler, 1992), competing information campaigns (e.g., Lange, 1993; Moore, 1993), or retreat (e.g., Seiter...
