However, to ensure that the research is accurate, the experimental design to test the hypothesis must be set up in a way that eliminates other factors that may be influencing driving, leaving talking on the cell phone the sole culprit of impaired driving. To do this, first we must add in a control condition, in order to have something to compare the drivers talking on the phone to, then we must assign our subjects in a random assortment to be sure all outside biases and factors are eliminated. I will count the number of steps the student is able to complete, and keep data on the type of prompt required to complete the task of tying their shoes. Subjects: The subjects are three students with autism at Seat Pleasant Elementary School in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. All of these students are in an inclusion classroom of 14 students. Ten students in the classroom have IEPs and have either autism or developmental delays. The remaining students are general education students performing below grade level. Describe the theory associated with this hypothesis. • In the summer of 1992, Medvec &Colleagues set out to test satisfaction after the Olympics competition. Based on “if only thinking”, they wanted to know if the person who won third place would be less upset than the person who won the second place. The Olympic competition was recorded, giving the opportunity to watch on slow motion. With the slow motion strategy, they were able to observe facial reaction of the gold, silver and bronze medalists. • The Phenomenon “near miss” or theory that Medvec and Colleagues were associated, tested how a person could react, or feel after a situation is altered or any other situation occurs. 2. Management is interested in a full analysis of their process to ensure that the control limits and capabilities are within reason, and to ensure that the addition of a second shift isn’t causing issues to their process. To accomplish this, a data set was constructed. Ten bags were tested every hour during each of the two separate eight hour shifts. This continued for five days to give us 800 observations, 400 from each shift. The samples provided were analyzed for management using statistical process control methods, control charts for attributes, and capability analysis. This included X & R control charts, P-charts, C-charts, and capability analysis. The interesting finding was that all the control charts displayed variations and fill levels completely within the limits. Also, defective bags, defined as those filled to less than 40 pounds, occurred within acceptable limits. Despite all this, the capability analysis with our chosen bounds of 40 pounds to 42 pounds failed to meet the 3σ threshold. Upon this determination, we returned to re-analyze our findings, much of which is discussed in the following pages. One item of particular note was the R chart for the second shift.
