Old White-Haired Freaks Do you have a hero? I believe that most Americans still have heroes. A person’s choice of a hero has definitely changed from the past. They choose a person who is close to their heart, such as a family member or a friend to look at as their hero. There are a couple reasons why I agree with this analogy. One reason is because of how we a look at people in the public eye and the other is the difference between a role model and a hero. Everything and everyone is overanalyzed in the present time. Any person that could be a hero has been cut down in size by somebody else. It does not matter if the person is a historical, biblical, or political figure, they have been judged and picked apart by someone who does not agree with their thoughts or morals. Everyone is a critic these days. Heroes and role models are judged even more erratically than those that were judged in the past. The main reason for this is because of all the means of communication we have via the web. In the “George Washington Era”, when a hero made a bad decision, it at times went unseen and unknown by many or even all. Now everyone can see every mistake or “screw up” that every person makes. It does not matter if the person is famous or not, the mistake will be seen by just a click of a button. There is a thin line between a role model and a hero. I believe that there is a definite defference between the two. A role model is a person that people wish to be like. They have looks, smarts, money, cars, or something else that others wish they had. People want to know how these role models got what they wanted in life and became so successful. A hero is a person who helps another person better themselves or even save their life in some way. The white-haired wig people, such as, John Adams, George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson, are still heroes to some, but
