Night Flying Woman is the story of a Native American woman who grows up with the Ojibwe people during the late 1800’s. There are many themes throughout the book that pertain to the main plot, but the one I chose deals with the passing of traditions. This theme relates heavily to the plot because when Oona was a little girl, practically everyone knew about the old and new traditions of the Ojibwe. As Oona grew older, however, the traditions became less and less known as they faded away due to the white people invading their land and assimilating their culture.
