• Conceptual simplicity: A simple model that simplifies data requirement of the client.
• Design implementation. This model advocated structural and data independence. If changes are made to the data it will not affect the accessibility of data.
• Ad hoc capability of query implementation: This model provides a simple method to implement and manipulate data.
Purpose of the entity – relationship model

...The History of Oracle | Founded in August 1977 by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, Ed Oates and Bruce Scott, Oracle was initially named after "Project Oracle" a project for one of their clients, the C.I.A, and the company that developed Oracle was dubbed "Systems Development Labs", or SDL.   Although they may not have realized it at the time, these four men would change the history of database management forever. In 1978 SDL was renamed Relational Software Inc (RSI) to market their new database.  1979 - Oracle release 2 The first commercial RDBMS was built using PDP-11 assembler language. Although they created a commercial version of RDBMS in 1977, it wasn't available for sale until 1979 with the launch of Oracle version 2. The company decided against starting with version 1 because they were afraid that the term "version 1" might be viewed negatively in the marketplace.  USA Air Force and then CIA were the first customers to use Oracle 2. In 1982 there was another change of the company’s name, from RSI to Oracle Systems Corporation so as to match its popular database name.  The current company name comes from a CIA project that Larry Ellison had previously worked on code named Oracle. 1983 - Oracle release 3 The Oracle version 3 was developed in 1983. This version was assembled using C programming language and could run in mainframes, minicomputers, and PCs or any hardware with a C compiler. It supported the execution of SQL statements and transactions. This version also included...

...types of bases to get the job done. The one database used more by logistics personnel is the Oracle Discoverer Plus database. In this paper will discuss what is Discoverer Plus, we will breakdown some of its function areas like End User layer (EUL), Business Area, and Folders. We will discuss some feature of Discoverer Plus database, and last, we will provide the dated problems of Discoverer’s Plus database. Discoverer Plus is one of five parts of the Air Force Supply Central Database (AFSCD). According to AFM 23-110 “Discoverer Plus is an oracle database that provides supply technician and analyst with a user friendly ad hoc data retrieval tool. It gives the user capability of retrieving, organizing, and displaying data when they want it, in the way they want it” (USAF 2009). Discoverer Plus also gives user the choice of creating their own queries from scratch with the help of a friendly wizard. In addition a number of standard ad hoc queries are provided to each user under their user-ids. Although standard ad hoc queries contain a predefined set of data, they also have flexibility of applying conditions, change sort order, and modifying the display. Discoverer Plus is also invaluable to Air Staff, Headquarter, and supply managers as it help makes important decisions with the deep-rooted analytical function. EUL is a part of Discoverer Plus, it is a layer of information used by Oracle Discoverer to hide the complexities and details of the underlying database. EUL provides a...

To clearly understand in details how these dialogs work, you will have to open them in the Forms Builder and examine them thoroughly. However, in this article, I am going to explain the best I can the most important mechanisms of each sample. These sample have been tested with an Oracle Forms 10g release 10.1.2.0.2 on an Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0. 2. For the first assignment, the following steps were taken to accomplish access to Oracle: 1. The first step to get to the Oracle server, Click on Start-> Programs -> Putty, was simple and easy. 2. After typing in the host name, UNIX-online.strayer.edu, I ensured the port was set to 22 and that the radio button was set for SSH. After entering Student Unix Server in the Saved Sessions box I selected “open” instead of going to the next step of selecting Category, which caused me to have to start over. 3. In the Category area on the left I selected Window. In the Columns and Rows boxes I entered 120 and 60 respectively to set the initial window size when opening the terminal window. Under Lines of scrollback, I enter 20000 and verified the remaining boxes. 4. I experienced dificulty with setting the colours. Under the Categories\Window to select Colours I selected ANSI Blue and typed in the values in the illustration before I selected Modify. I changed the colour to yellow and selected OK. Oracle Database Trends

...researched on database understood database used by ORACLE. INTRODUCTION The definition of a database is a structured collection of records or data that is stored in a computer system. In order for a database to be truly functional, it must not only store large amounts of records well, but be accessed easily. In addition, new information and changes should also be fairly easy to input. In order to have a highly efficient database system, you need to incorporate a program that manages the queries and information stored on the system. This is usually referred to as DBMS or a Database Management System. Besides these features, all databases that are created should be built with high data integrity and the ability to recover data if hardware fails. (What is a Database?, 2010) AIM The aim of the study is many folded such as, understanding database, go in detail and understand and research on database, understand the technology used by ORACLE, derive conclusions on the development in the field of database. LIMITATIONS This study is descriptive in nature and the research is done on published secondary materials. Logical conclusions are made based on our experience and the results done by the previous researchers. However, the time constraint is considered as a big obstacle in completing the project to our best satisfaction. Our project will mainly concentrate on database trends in general. However, we will make a short mention to ORACLE whom adopted new trends in database. DEFINITION...
