Oral Presentation

...Oral Presentation Plan and deliver a 7-10 minute presentation to the class in which you share something interesting (to other business majors) that you learned from researching your trend, problem, or opportunity. You might well define the trend you analyzed or explain a key term or concept that is a major topic of your report. On the other hand, your presentation topic might be only marginally related to the subject of your research report. For example, you might have researched the use and limitations of social media in customer service and could give your report on that topic. But if your scenario had you working for a non-profit or for a state agency, you might want to give your report on the benefits of working for a non profit or for the State of Texas. Avoid simply restating your report findings and recommendations as if you were presenting these to the executive audience of your report scenario. Look for a topic that you enjoyed learning about, and make it interesting to the class. Consider the following elements of the rhetorical situation: * Purpose: Your purpose in this assignment could be informative or persuasive. Teach us something. * Audience: Your audience includes all of us—students and instructor—in this section of Business Communications. Though we are of various ages, we share a keen interest in business, business education, and the role of business in society. * Stance: Your role is that of and inquirer and fellow student. Project...

Oral Presentation

...The presentation on “How to buy a new car” by Rob Gruhl was effectively delivered to the audience. Rob had a clear and loud voice, which made his point across; his choice of words was very effective, because he used clear sentences and visual representation on the power point slides. The visuals, were eye catching and humors, and engaged the audience in laughter. His technique and style of presenting is getting to the point, and saying the facts as they are. His vocals were clear and very projective, so everyone in the room could hear him. The main advantage of this presentation is that the author delivered very important facts about how to sell a car to the audience, in less then five minutes. He is also very honest with his audience, and clear about his opinion, which makes this message effective. There are no drawbacks to this presentation, however if he slowed down his speech a little, it would have been a lot better. At the end of the presentation he concluded with some of the key factors he mentioned in the presentation, as a reminder to the audience. This is key when presenting because it reminds the audience about the message you are trying to get across. Some of the characteristics of a good presentation used in this speech were: eye contact, avoiding long sentences, speaks in clear voice, not using slang and bringing the presentation to a close. All these were discussed in chapter 12 and were effectively used by the speaker. Some that were missed were: Maintaining a...

Oral Presentation Tips

...Your question concerning strategies for dealing with fear and nervousness when giving an oral presentation is a common one. It’s actually okay to be a little nervous in a situation such as this—a little adrenalin actually helps your overall performance. Fortunately, though, there are many things you can do to overcome this uncomfortable feeling. Here are a few: * Smile! When you appear relaxed, comfortable, and friendly, your audience will respond in kind. * Confess that you are a little nervous. This vulnerability helps your audience be sympathetic to you (and your presentation). * Remember to breathe, slowly and deeply. This will help control any trembling that you may notice in your hands and voice. * Be prepared. This will give you more confidence, and take away any nervousness associated with that aspect of your presentation, at least. Practice your speech in front of a mirror, as cheesy as that sounds. * Speak slowly and make use of natural pauses. There is a natural tendency to panic and rush through in a situation such as this—try to overcome that and pace yourself. For organizing the content of your speech, keep the following in mind: * Begin with an introduction (which, just as with a paper, you may actually wish to write last) * Capture the audience’s attention with a funny story, a question, or a startling statistic. * State your purpose—for example: “I’m going to talk about…” * Give a brief outline of your talk—for...

...Hello Ms. Streeter, I saw Dr. Waluzak yesterday. He is aware that I have completed physical therapy and have been instructed to continue all of the exercises at home, which I am doing at least 3-4 days a week. I am 90% better, however, when I do certain activities, such as getting in and out of my SUV (sit up high), Sexual activities (such as straddling), this is when I feel the greatest discomfort. I have to step on my running boards on my SUV to get in to avoid that discomfort from stretching or aggravating my "Pyriformis" muscle. The physical therapist advised me to continue with the exercises (stretching), continue with Massage Envy, who has help tremendously with the deep tissue massage of that muscle. Oral Presentation Technical Writing

...Oral Presentation Technical Writing Often, technical writers must present their materials—either to demonstrate their efficacy or to persuade a prospective customer (or superior) of the need and value of the materials they’ve prepared. A good oral presentation is clear, informative, entertaining, and memorable. The best way to give an effective oral presentation is to PREPARE it carefully. Even the most nervous of public speakers will be more confident if she has prepared the presentation carefully, practiced the presentation a number of times, and attempted to prevent or anticipate any possible glitches. Assignment: As part of your ongoing work on the website project (the website proposal and the website itself), you will prepare an oral presentation for Ms. Courtney Blair to show her your completed website and help her to understand its benefits to your company. Your report should be about 7 minutes in length and—for the most part—your visuals will consist of the website you’ve created. If you like, you may also prepare accompanying data (such as charts indicating how the website will enhance a company’s visibility or sales) and “toggle” between your website and the document camera (and you’ll all have the opportunity to practice using this before you give your presentation). You may use note cards if you like, but I’d prefer you not read—word for word—from a prepared script. A “memorized” speech lacks spontaneity and usually does not engage your audience. While you...

Oral Presentation Times Square

...What once used to be Long Acre Square located in The Hell’s Kitchen of New York an area known for its crime drugs and prostitution is one of America’s most visited tourist spots today. The name changed from Long Acre Square into Times Square in 1904 when the New York Times building moved to Long Acre Square. Unlike the name of the Square changed the neighborhood didn’t. It would actually be some sort of a bad area where you didn’t want to be seen up till the 80’ies when the Disney store came here. The store came here in order to change the image of The Hell’s kitchen which includes other famous streets like Broadway and 5th avenue. I’m telling you this because this proves how powerful a brand can be, one Disney Store actually started to change whole New York City. Another reason for me choosing this topic is because I find it funny how I and I ‘m sure a lot of people hate the commercials on TV we start to go through different channels as they come on in order to skip them. But then we go to Times Square to see the Big Billboards and we‘re just like WOW. I have been to New York last summer and I have to say that walking on Times Square is some sort of a new experience each time. It’s also a very important spot for companies to advertise in America because it’s not just the millions of people passing by. Times Square is also daily shown on TV in shows like Good Morning America. I just loved my stay in New York City and would recommend everyone to go there if they ever get...

Oral Class Presentation About Parents

...Oral class presentation about Parents Allow me to be the first one who stands before you today, and admit that I’ve been a bad daughter… I’ve made so many mistakes, and said so many things that only God’s great mercy could forgive such an ignorance… my teenage years were a dark whole in my life, I used to think it was all because of my mother, but the truth is… it was nobody’s fault but mine. You see, the only mistake mom has made was dreaming that I could be the best, but the only thing I could think of, was that she was actually making me cry on purpose, I thought she was enjoying that torture. So I hated her. They say, the last thing a dying person would do, is the thing his entire life was all about… I remember the day she was about to die… the only person she asked to see, was me… how could it be? The bad mother who always made me cry wanted ME to be the last person she sees before she dies! My mother didn’t die, all thanks to God, but that made me realize so many things that I was too blind to see… in the video, the boy was too embarrassed by his one eye mother… we all think he’s the devil, but… we should make a stop and remember what WE did… you see, each one of us, has been given an eye from their mom and dad, and at some point of our lives, we all felt ashamed of it… bad hearing, bad vision… maybe your father keeps asking you to repeat things you say cause he keeps forgetting about them… “Hurry up mom! You’re so slow… you’re embarrassing me!” … can’t you see...
