...Organizational Structure Paper Melissa A. Wilkinson XMGT/230 - Managment Theory and Practice June 2, 2013 Elaine McCarty Organizational Structure Paper At Burns & McDonnell engineering, several different organizational charges are used because of the size of the company. For individual projects, functional organizational charts are used to organize employees within that particular project. Functional organization is the departmentalization around specialized activities such as production, marketing, and human resources (Bateman & Snell, 2011). For the Maine Power Reliability Program, in which Burns & McDonnell functions as the Program Manager for this project, a functional organization is used. At the top of the organizational chart, the lead of the entire project, the program manager is at the top. Underneath the program manager is the assistant program manager, who reports directly to the program manager. From there, everyone else is grouped by functional group which the lead or project manager at the top of that functional group. There is one overhead project manager and underneath this position are the assistant project managers and the technical admins. ...Organizational Structure Paper Martin Villarreal MGT230 November 7, 2012 Quinton Murphy All Businesses must have an organizational structure in order to function efficiently and correctly. Whether the business is big or small, organization is one of the major keys to success. Organizational structures may come in all shapes and sizes. Best Buy Co. is a great example of a large business that has a solid organizational structure and it shows how being organized can take your small mom and pop type business and grow it into the retail giant it is today. When you first examine the organizational structure of Best Buy Co. it can be a bit confusing. Though the company is one big organization, it has many smaller sub organizations, for example Geek Squad and Best Buy Mobile. Though they are one company Geek Squad offers computer repairs as well as computer and home theater installations and trouble shoots, and Best Buy Mobile offers cell phones, while Best Buy as a store sells electronics. The Best Buy Co. organizational structure appears to be a hybrid of a functional and a divisional structure. The store is setup with different departments and each department has a lead or a supervisor that is in charge of meeting sales and financial goals. Above the department supervisors, there is a sales manager and then a general manager that is in charge of everything and everyone in that retail location. That is the part that is more of a functional structure. The divisional...

...Organizational Structure Paper MGT/230 January 25th, 2015 Organizational Structure Paper The organizational structure that I am going to use is "Do It Best". The organization has about 3,800 different stores across the United States, and yes this organization is American based. There is about three do it best shops in the town that I live in, although there are more than one store I am only going to be talking about one. This organization is on North Jeffers St. in the town that I live. It is an employee-run and owned organization. When big companies like Menards came into town, the profits and the employees dropped tremendously. With the loyal customers and the respective employees, "Do It Best" stays in business as one of the most respective small hardware stores in our location. The two different organizations I am going to mention is "ABC Seamless", and "Nebraska Re-Roof" both companies in the same location as "Do It Best" no more than one mile apart from each other. All three of the organizations have both the supply and the demand, being all three different companies they have various ways of running each of them. "ABC Seamless" is a seamless siding company first of its kind, there style of siding and the material that is used can only be found in that company. "Do It Best" also has products that can only be located through them, in their siding department they do not sell the seamless siding, nor do they install any of the products that they sell from the store...

...Organizational Structure Paper Oswualdo Ramirez MGT/230 June 20, 2012 Kellie Parker Organizational Structure Paper The United States Army is one of many legal types of organizations of the armed forces and has been since June 1775. It is the largest and oldest of all the branches of the military and continues to dominate all threats aimed at the United States alongside the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines. Like many other organizations in the United States, the U.S Army has a structure of its own. From the top down, it functions as any other organization, but unlike most, every member of its team carries rank and has a chain of command to abide by. In the following I will describe and evaluate the structure and functions within the United States Army, compare it to its fellow branches, and explain its organizational design that has been the primary reason Americans have been kept free from tyranny and enjoy the freedoms taken for granted every day. Army Organizational Structure What is an organization? According to "Businessdictionary" (2012), an organization is a social unit of people, systematically structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collective goals on a continuing basis (Organization). ...Organizational Structure Paper Michelle Cobb MGT/230 January 9, 2012 Peter Paff Organizational Structure Paper The organizing functions of management are the combining of resources so that a company can achieve its goals. One important aspect is the resource of knowledge. Knowledge is important for gathering information then spreading that knowledge and what to do with it as soon as possible. Another important resource is technology, it is not only that a company utilizes it but also it is important to know what is available to make the operation run more smoothly. One company I feel has done a good job of utilizing these two particular resources and that is Target. Target utilizes knowledge to not only educate their employees but to make it part of the culture of their company. One way that Target uses knowledge to focus on the culture is its very open support of diversity. Each store does different events but all of the stores take part in celebrating diversity. For instance some store will have “Did you know?” type facts of different ethnic backgrounds. This not only gives the employees the knowledge but for team members pride in whom they are. This knowledge is then part of the culture, which gives their customers a more comfortable shopping experience. This same focus is handled at a managerial level as well. As a manager at Target you are taught to be aware and sensitive to whatever different diversity issues that may arise. This...

...Corporate Strategy Summary Lizeht Robledo University Of Phoenix April 26, 2015 Lastacy Williams Corporate Strategy Summary CEOs have different strategies and plans used in concentration, vertical integration and diversification in the planning function of management. Each of these has a different purpose and is looking for the same results, to keep the company up float. As discussed in this week’s class, the videos in which we need to write this summary have different planning management priorities and skills. Here is what I observed of the different companies we learn about. Southwest Airlines CEO is Gary Kelly is the only CEO who organized and planned a different strategy than all the others. This is why I will explain his strategy first. Mr. Kelly utilizes vertical integration which deals with lower fuel costs. Mr. Gary protects his fuel contracts and monitors prices. By keeping his contracts close and protected so that Southwest Airlines can buy fuel at lower prices. Southwest Airlines are the airlines that pay the lowest cost for fuel. With this fuel contract the Airline can afford to keep their airline fares at very low prices attracting more clients. Because there is a higher middle class population who don’t need luxury, those are the ones who not only afford the prices but also have the interest to travel with fewer expenses in their mind. Anne Mulcahy in the CEO for Xerox. Anne Mulcahy applied the diversification strategy. She applied this strategy...

...Organizational Structure and Culture Paper NUR 492 October 21, 2013 Tisa Carlisle Organizational Structure and Culture Paper This paper will review the organizational structure and culture of Palmetto Health, an acute care hospital located in Columbia, South Carolina. The focus will be on the medical-surgical unit. The paper will review the type of organizational structure and how communication is affected by the social and cultural aspects of this hospital. Also discussed is how Palmetto Health provides client-centered care to accomplish their mission statement, “To be remembered by each patient as providing the care and compassion we want for our families and ourselves” (Palmetto Health, 2013). Type of Organizational Structure The type of organizational structure used at Palmetto Health is a hybrid structure. This organizational structure, as it grows, organizes both self-contained units and functional units into a hybrid organization (Sullivan & Decker, 2009). This hybrid structure improves alignment between corporate and service goals. The hybrid structure also encourages better adaptation to the environment while maintaining its efficiency. A weakness of the hybrid structure is conflict between top administration and managers. Managers often resent administrators’ intrusions into what they see as their area of responsibility. Over time, these organizations tend to accumulate large corporate staff to oversee divisions in an attempt to coordinate service...
