Organizing Functions of Management MGT/330 August 17, 2010 Angela Guest

Organizing Functions of Management Lifetime Products is the leader of portable basketball systems. The company has expanded the operation to include additional product lines such as playground equipment, folding chairs and tables, sheds, utility trailers, and outdoor furniture. The company employs more than 1800 individuals in locations such as the United States, Mexico, and China and works with supply chain partners and customers around the globe. Lifetime Products organization is vertically structured. The departments and jobs are grouped by business functions required to meet the organizations goals and objectives. Employees with similar skills are grouped to provide more efficient work cells. This structure allows the organization to make decisions based on the needs for each department and allows the organization to make purchases necessary such as providing efficient equipment to employees to perform their jobs. Human resources Because the company has more than 1800 employees the human resources department must rely on other departments to meet certain challenges. The need for human resource manages to broaden their focus from creating basic policy and procedures to helping the organization recruit, develop, and maintain employees with the skill set needed to give the organization the long-term competitive edge needed in today’s market.
