China In Chinese culture they believed the universe was split into two sections one being earth below and the other been heaven above. As opposites they formed and gave a sense of unity between them. the circle of life is being carved still to this day which has no beginning and has no end which I fell gives a sense of a serpent devouring and eating itself to maintain immortality and to represent infinity all cultures that you research to do with the symbol ouroboros has a variation of the serpent eating its own tail which again leads back to the circle of life. in Maori culture there was no exact links found back to the ouroboros but in my opinion the spiritual beliefs are much on the same page, the koru for example has a representation of the silver fern un furling with a sense of growth and new beginnings where it shall eventually grow old and pass on then the regrowth will happen and unfurl again.
