Outback Steakhouse Discuss how the employee selection methods at Outback Steakhouse help the organization achieve a competitive advantage. For an organization to become successful the company must hire employees managers feel fit the culture of the company. Founders of Outback Steakhouse wanted employees to experience the working environment as a great place to work, have fun, and earn a living. The workforce at Outback Steakhouse gives the organization a competitive advantage because of the targeted screening process. Management at Outback Steakhouse understands the importance of hiring individual that fit the needs of the company. Their efforts are not an exact science, however, the company success is contingent on their ability to employ and maintain an engaged workforce to effectively operate within the organization. The hiring process established by Outback Steakhouse has proven to be a success. The company goes through great links to source the right applicants during the application, assessment, and interview phase. These processes allow managers to select the most desirable employee. Each potential new team member is evaluated the same ensuring he or she have similar baseline beliefs as the company. Sourcing employees that share similar cultural beliefs as the company make the transition of adhering to the values, vision and culture of the company transparent. The characteristic traits most covenanted by Outback Steakhouse management are kindness, accountability, individual responsibility, and most importantly teamwork. Perspective new team members are tested against a known standard established by successful existing employees.
