Introduction:
In this assessment I am going to describe the main physical, technological and human resources in the operation of JD Sports and I am going to explain how management of physical, technological and human resources can improve the performance of JD Sports.
The main physical resources that I am going to describe are:
Buildings:Buildings need to be suitable to the needs of JD Sports. This is because it involves considering the general layout where the customers will go as well as storage rooms. The buildings need to be kept clean in order to be is good condition for the business use.
Facilities:Suitable facilities need to be available to the employees and to the customers of JD Sports. These involve rooms such as changing rooms where the customers can go and try the products on to see if the product fits them or not, toilets and kitchen for the staff to use when they are at work. These areas should be checked out for cleanliness and health and safety reasons.
Materials:The stock level of materials need to be checked so that the goods are recorded when the levels decreases. As new supplies come in stock these must be checked for quality before being used it productions or put on displays for the customers to buy.
Waste:All organisations have some amount of waste. In manufacturing this may involve waste or unwanted raw materials. This may also involve chemicals or waste products that can affect the environment. Organisations can reuse the waste if it’s possible because it will make money for the business or recycle the waste because it could be used for other purposes.
Plant and Machinery:Plant and Machinery varies from organisations to organisation. In manufacturing this includes production lines and conveyor belts, lathes used for cutting wood, Lorries and forklifts. In others this may include cupboards, filing cabinets, ovens and freezers. Plant and machinery tend to be very heavy and less moveable.
Contribution of physical resources to JD Sports operations:
Physical resources will able JD Sports to operate with disruptions when stock are managed efficiently and it helps out JD Sports to compete with their rivals. Physical resources will attract more customers for JD Sports and staff the staff would like to work at the work place, the location of the JD Sports may make the place accessible to many customers this maybe because of the building or the car park their provide their customers to park their cars in for free while they are shopping. There will be faster operations/customer service with the use of machinery such as self-service machine which are used by customers to pay for the products that they have brought and JD Sports need to able to serve all the needs of their staff and customer including disable staff and customers. For disable staff and customers they can provide electronic motor and lifts so that disable can use it.
How JD Sports maintains the physical resource:
JD Sports maintains its physical resources by ensuring that the building is large so that all the products are fitted in nice and clearly inside the store. They ensure that the waste is recycled properly so that they can use it for other use if they need to and regular maintenance of machinery and replacement. JD Sports maintains the physical resources by insurance for valuable fixed Assets and security provision for the valuable Assets.

The main technological resources that I am going to describe are:
Cash till:cash tills are used it JD Sportsto keep their money and cash tills recordswhat products have been sold on the day, for what prices have they been sold. Cash tills are very safe to keep money in them and it has a password or a key to open it.
Scanners:scanners are used it JD Sports to check what products are available and what products aren’t. it’s a very good item to have in a business such as JD Sports because when customers ask for a products if the employees are not sure if they have the product available in store they can type the code of the scanner and its will show the result.
Computers:computers are used in JD Sport to communicate with other JD Sports branches and computers are used to email suppliers to order products.
CCTV cameras:CCTV cameras are used in JD Sports to keep their working environment and their customers safe when they are shopping in JD Sports. CCTV cameras are very useful to JD Sports because people aren’t able to steal something for the stores because the employees can watch them on the CCTV cameras.
Internet:interest is used to allow customers to get in contact with JD Sports in a very short time such as sending them and email. Internet is used to attract more customers for JD Sports by providing the customers to do online shopping.
Contribution of technological resources to JD Sports operations:
Technological resources are used to intellect property that could differentiate JD Sports from another business such as brand, logo name etc. it makes it harder for JD Sports competitors to copy products or service, it will make JD Sports to accumulate experience and skills staff to work professionally and technological resources will able JD Sports to provide faster service to their customers and new products development such as online internet service and self-service for customers in in store. Technological resources helps JD Sports to have a faster communication with their customers or suppliers because the modern day technology has provided us with things which will help us to have a faster communication such as telephone, mobile, sending emails and etc. Technological resources have help businesses to reduce its cost of operations because of the machineries taking over employees, now there are technological equipment’s available that does the same job as human or even better so businesses use them because it will help them to reduces the number of employees that they employ and it will help them because they wouldn’t need to spend a lot of money on employees’ wages and salaries.
How JD Sports maintains the technological resource:
JD Sports maintains its technological resources by software licences and protection through patents and copy rights by registering all intellectual property; they pay people with accumulated experience and skills higher to retrain them so that the employees can be up to date and have the right skills to use the modern technology, JD Sports ensure that people do not infringe on someone’s intellectual property and if they want to use someone’s intellectual property they will have to seek permission first.
The main Human resources that I am going to describe are:
Employees: employees are people that have been employed by JD Sports to work for them in their business.
Manager:managers are the people that are in charge of the branch and the employees that work in the branch. The manager has to make sure that all the employees are doing their job and achieving their targets.
Directors:directors are the people that are above the managers and the director is responsible for the managers and they are the people that set the aims and objective for the business.
Cleaners:cleaners are the people that clean the store if there is any mess on the floor or water or something it’s the cleaner’s job to clean it because that’s what he has been employed for and for health and safety reasons.
Cashers:cashers are the people that work on the tills and their job is to provide good customer services to the customers and take payments for the products the customers buy.
Contribution of Human resources to JD Sports operations:
Human resources will able JD Sports to move forward because they provide the business with the employees and skills set required to more the business forward to achieve its aims and objectives. Human resources increase efficacy in operations and it brings about productivity of the business, human resources helps the business to build up its corporate image, they are responsible for managing JD Sports operations and they bring innovations and creativity through new ideas.

How JD Sports maintains the Human resource:
JD Sports maintains its human resources by recruiting the staff for the job, they look at the skills the people have and then they decide if they are the right people for the job and if they can manage to do what the business requires them to do. Human resources they terminate employment contract when necessary because if the staff are not able to do what the job ask them, then they sack them and replace the employee with someone new that has the right skills to do the job.They monitor to see how well employees are working (observing staff appraisal), human resources they provide the staff with incentive to encourage more effective working such as promotion, benefits and salary rise.
