Proven Tips to Perform Well in PTE Speaking- Read Aloud
It’s been a few years and PTE has taken a giant leap into the world of language proficiency tests. It is gaining popularity for numerous reasons. Some of the reasons are- quick test scheduling, fast delivery of results and acceptance of PTE scores in prestigious colleges and universities all around the world. Out of four modules of the PTE test, speaking section is the most challenging section for most of the students. The speaking section tests the ability of the test takers to produce spoken English in an academic environment. The various speaking item types of the PTE Academic test require candidates to respond orally using fluent speech, pronunciation, stress and correct intonation. …show more content…
You will be given only 40 seconds to read the text aloud clearly as possible. While speaking aloud, you must take care that you do not read punctuation marks aloud. If you see any punctuation marks in the sentence, just ignore them and read the words in the text aloud. A comma in the sentence may require a short pause, but the text should read naturally. After you have completed one item type, you can click on the “Next” button to go to the next item. The timer will continue running until you complete one section. The amount of time you get to respond to each item type varies. The instructions will be stated in the instruction box.
Scoring of Read Aloud
The scoring of the Read Aloud is based on three major factors, which are- content, oral fluency and pronunciation.
Content: - Content is scored by counting the number of correct words you have given in your response. If you make replacements, insertions or omissions, it will negatively affect your score.
Oral Fluency: - Oral Fluency is scored by determining your tone, rhythm and stress. You will get high scores for oral fluency if you speak at a constant and natural rate of speech with appropriate …show more content…

Unlike traditional lecture-based teaching where student participation in the classroom is minimal, the case method is an active learning method, which requires participation and involvement from the student in the classroom. For students who have been exposed only to the traditional teaching methods, this calls for a major change in their approach to learning.
