Music has always been a big part of my life starting from being an active member of many Chorale groups throughout the years, to learning piano and studying Music Theory. However, it was during my junior year of High School that I gained interest in more than just the subject of Music. I realized that I wanted to be apart of the people who are "behind the scenes", the people that that contribute to bringing certain aspects of entertainment to life through the Business. So its safe to say that I have not only developed a strong interest in music, but also the vast areas of the Music Industry and Entertainment Business. After reviewing the numerous academic opportunities at Pace, I realized that this is the perfect school for me to study the Art and Entertainment business and develop the overall knowledge and skills to be successful in my career. Because my desired career has to do with not only the entertainment business but also the arts, I knew that New York City was the perfect place to study the many aspects of both. I was in search of an urban campus with professional and cultural diversity; also potential resources to help me progress throughout the next four years.
Pace University seems to provide a nurturing environment to the students who attend, and as a freshman I am looking for a school that can provide me with the necessary tools I need to be successful in the entertainment and business world. I know that Pace has a lot to offer and I would welcome the honor to attend and advance my knowledge and cultural development, along with the comprehensive courses which will bridge the gap of providing an educational opportunity in my pursuit to a successful career in Entertainment.

Therefore, I can certainly connect with the narrator’s story of I Want a Wife. This is a narrative essay, in which the narrator reflects on why she too would like to have a wife after a visit with a recently divorced male friend, who is looking for a new wife. The narrator gives a list of duties and activities she will and will not do if she had a wife, and she can visualize the benefits a wife could afford her with less responsibilities and more time for school or friends. My other essay of choice is quite different in theme, but it is still relatable. Anne Quindlen’s essay, Homeless (n.d.) is a short descriptive essay with the narrator retelling of an account when she met a woman, who she believes is homeless, at the bus terminal. It is during the encounter that the narrator reflects on homeless people in general, the homeless individual and about herself. Both of these essays’ are well written, however, I feel that Homeless (Quindlen, A. n.d.), is a more appealing essay than I Want a Wife (Brady, J. 1971), as it allows the reader to become more engaged in the descriptions and reflect on the details of the story. The challenge is that the main character is a Japanese-American woman living more than 50 years ago. The story “Two Deserts” by Valerie Matsumoto tells of Emiko Oyama, a young mother who lives in California’s Imperial Valley. Emiko is married with one daughter. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Emiko was interned during World War Two. This is no doubt one of the two deserts referred to by the story’s title. Emiko also revelas in the story that she has never been to Tokyo, and therefore we assume that she has never been to Japan. Emiko’s relationship with new neighbors is the heart of the story.
