My mother is now 41 years old and a single mother, she had me when she was 18 she had me at a young age. My mother and father was not married but they both agreed that they were ready to have a baby. They had me out of love and was planned from my parents. It’s hard on my mother because when I was 18 years old my father passed away. Even though my parents were not together they became best friends and they still communicated with each other and raised me from two separate homes. My mother’s delivery experience was frightening because she went into labor 2 ½ months early. She had all the support she needed to make the experience better. My father, great grandmother, grandmother, great aunt, and grandfather accompanied her. My parents prepared for my homecoming by going to Lamaze class and a pre-natal class. After I was born my mother was a little depressed because she couldn’t take me home. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 extra weeks because I was a pre-mature baby weighing in at 3 pounds 2 ounces. My mother was diagnosed with separation anxiety, from my pediatrician.
When I finally came home a lot changed with in my environment and with my parents. Having me made my mother more mature and very protective. By having me it made my parents closer and their relationship stronger. There was no change within friendships because my mother’s best friend still came around because she already had a daughter and my aunt had her baby a month after I was born. Her schedule changed because of my sleep patterns and since I was a pre-mature baby they took turns with watching me to make sure I was breathing in my sleep. The most fulfilling moment was just having a baby, something you created. My mother said I cried a lot and I had gas that would make me cry for some reason the milk didn’t agree with me. The
