Jane Doe, an associate of mine had surgery to prevent the cancer from spreading. Afterwards, she was prescribed Percocet, a painkiller containing oxycodone and acetaminophen to control moderate and severe pain. The side effects are drowsiness, nausea, lightheadedness, confusion and constipation. Jane would take more than what it was prescribed, because of being in constant pain caused her to become irritable and depress. And five pills weren’t enough. However, she would have to retrieve the doctor’s authorization to get a refill, but he would lose his license if he were to prescribe too many refills. Being that it is one of the most commonly abused prescription drugs, he feared of her body becoming dependent on the drug function or overdose which can occur if it is taken more than what the doctor prescribed.
