By using the person-centered approach ones view of human nature comes from one’s helping style. One would require a style that would make the client believe he or she is safe and understood. By the client knowing his or her therapist or counselor does understand him or her then he or she will believe he or she is safe and accept the help offer by the therapist or counselor. One could possibly set his or her on goals for change or except those of the therapist or counselor. “Person-centered therapy holds an optimistic view of human personality and focuses on present rather than past experience. Focusing on the inner experience of persons rather than on observable behavior, it holds that behavioral change evolves from within the person rather than through the manipulation of the environment” (Parrott III, 2003). Personal Reflection on the Self Paper

...Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 1 Personal Reflection on the Self Paper By Joe Everett April 21, 2014 University of Phoenix Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 2 The study of one’s self is a part of social psychology. A person to person in social psychology is not the same as self, now if you asked someone to identify what is self their response will be different all the time because every person will tell you a different response. However, even with all the different responses it does not make any of the answer wrong, it has to do with the person’s perspective that determines what they feel is self, it is because of this we have to wonder how many self’s are we dealing with. If we asked a person that question, they might answer that more than one exists. With this kind of response it is correct because we have to see the inner self, interpersonal self, body self, and the social self. What is considered us or yourself is self-recognized and self identifies; however, what all of this means is that other peoples are not going to see you the same way. There are a couple different theories that deals with such effect and the illusion of transparency. There is what is called a spotlight effect, and this is when a person believes that everyone is looking at them, they think that everyone’s focusing all their attention on how one’s they look or even behavior like, but in reality not one is really paying attention...

Theo 104 Reflection

...Reflection Jeremy Simms Theology 104 Doctor Jones June 30, 2012 Reflection: I. Introduction: Throughout this course of study I have been challenged, and my awareness as a Christian has been heightened. There have been several questions raised that deserve not only an answer, but diligence in the research and understanding necessary to answer with confidence, vigor and enthusiasm. The first question that will be answered is simple in thought, but more complex in true understanding. Does the Bible have authority? Next, we will discuss the importance of personal testimonies in sharing the gospel. Finally, we will look at life as a Christian. If a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? Throughout the following pages these questions will be explored and answered fully, truly and completely. II. Section One: Does the Bible have authority? Many people read the Bible with cynicism in their hearts and attempt to be overly critical as a result. This is true for both Christians and non-believers alike. In some ways it seems easier to look for a mistake or try to disprove scripture instead of having true faith. This poses the question. Does the Bible have authority? If so, where does its authority come from and how do we know? There are many arguments that show the Bible’s authority and confirm the scripture is the word of God. The most powerful to me personally is the convicting, convincing...

Ethics

...Ethics ETH/316 University of Phoenix December 1, 2011 Ethics Ethical development is an important tool needed in today’s society. In this paper, the topic will discuss the similarities and differences between virtue theory, utilitarianism, and deontological ethics. In addition this papers topic will address how each theory addresses ethics and morality in relation to the authors’ personal experiences with virtue, values, and moral concepts. Similarities and Differences in Ethics Theories To understand the similarities between virtue theory, utilitarianism, and deontological ethics the first order is to define the meaning of each. According to Boylan (2009), virtue theory has a definition of cultivating excellence in life and constituting an aspect of the “good person” (Boylan, 2009). Utilitarianism according to Boylan (2009),” is a theory that suggests that an action is morally right when that action produces more total utility for the group than any other alternative” (p. 153). Deontological ethics have a definition as an analysis of reason, this analysis position decisions based for the morally justified good. The similarities between the three theories represent the good in people and how they strive for excellence and justified good. The differences in the three theories begin with the ethics and morality. Virtue theory describes a person’s character, cultivating “excellence in all we do” (Boylan, 2009, p. 43). Striving for excellence can be challenging at times by...

In this report, I intend to review a variety of theories relative to organizational behaviour by considering each in relation to my own experiences as a mid-level manager. This reflection will focus primarily on three themes including personality, working in groups, and leadership. Many of these strengths and weaknesses were highlighted through a series of self-assessment exercises completed as part of the "Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library" (Robbins and Judge, 2007), the results of which will be regularly referred to in this report. Critical Thinking

...good critical thinker. Critical thinking is a type of thinking used to come to a great sound decision in their personal life, job, and college. One example of getting a person to use critical thinking is in their writing skills. The instructors would give their students a paper to write, where the students need to use an idea how to read their paper. Critical thinking helps us to acquire our knowledge and solving our problems. Personal Experience in my Workplace On personal experience I had learned that critical thinking was a performance that my boss controls me. It was about that how to present the team concept, diversity issues and the organization policies to the employees at on of our town halls that only included all the areas of our department. I had to find a way to make this presentation where it was not boring, it got the message across and everyone would understand it. I decided the best way to make the presentation and be able to keep my audience’s attention would be to do a PowerPoint presentation using fun pictures and animation. I started my presentation first with the organizations’ policies, then from there I got into the team concept that the organization was going too, talk about diversity and that the organization wanted each department to come up with activities to help the employees embrace diversity. Personal Experience at College On my personal...
