Personal Narrative: Bethel Vs. Other Online Colleges

I won't pretend I'm familiar with other online university programs, and what they offer, because Bethel was my first choice. However, in the small amount of time I've been "attending" Bethel, I can't imagine how other online universities can compare. When you think about an "online university", you think about all of those commercials you see on television, for colleges you've never even heard of, that have no real campus. You imagine the students sitting at home alone, turning in assignments to their "teachers", whom they will probably never meet. That doesn't seem like college to me. With Bethel, so far I have met not only numerous members of the faculty and staff, but also my classmates! My actual classmates, that I'll be embarking on this journey with. Bethel is also a "real college" to me. I have friends that live on the main campus in McKenzie, TN, and attend class almost every day! It's not just some "online university" that no one has ever seen/heard of. …show more content…

Rebekah, I completely agree with you. I know that after graduation, when I'm ready to take my resume to a potential employer, my resume is going to stand out, simply because it states, "I obtained my degree at Bethel University." I am also from West Tennessee, and have grown up knowing that attending Bethel is a big deal around here. Even aside from the history of Bethel, you have the fact that it's a Christian University, which in the opinions of many, (whether they choose to admit it or not) makes you a more desirable candidate, for unfilled positions, to prospective
