Chico, California
Gordon hall

Spring of 1977

Per Behnam’s plan for my living arrangement, after staying with him for few days , I was suppose to reside in a dormitory named GORDON HALL which was affiliated with Chico State University. I really don’t know how he got me in there since I was student at Chico high school not at university . Maybe there was a program for foreign students which would allow this exception. Three days at his place went by fast. I was still adjusting with time difference and overcoming jetlag that it was time to go . He suggested that we eat at his favorite sandwich place before we head to GORDON HALL . I was too nervous to eat but it was fun watching him enjoying every bite of his pastrami sandwich …show more content…
In good old days that suit cases had no wheels , you really needed to have strong muscles to carry them. “What do you have in these bags ? rocks? “He jokingly asked. “ No , just packed for four years stay” I answered. After some confusion to find the room , I was finally there . My home for next six months. The Room was huge , it was divided to two sections by a half partition wall. On each side of wall there was two beds and two built in desks. I was sharing my side of room with an African American girl from Texas named Tracy. She welcomed me and started talking with Behnam which I hardly understood anything. He translated that , my two other roommates who were not in the room at that time were from a city in Northern California called San Rafael and their names are Bobbie and Jill . Shortly after Behnam left , a beautiful blond girl walked in and introduced herself as JILL. Her voice was soft and kind but I noticed that She was extremely skinny. In those days that still Tweegy trend was in, I thought she is trying to be fashionable but I was wrong. It was my first encounter with a person with anorexia . Few hours later another girl walked in with loud voice , big smile and wet hair .She was Bobbie . She started talking with me . Tracy explained to her that I don’t speak English well so Bobbie started talking with universal language , moving hands. She was a diver and seemed

...Bryant-45099 Part I.qxd 10/18/2006 7:42 PM Page 36 5 FEMINIST METHODOLOGIES AND EPISTEMOLOGY ANDREA DOUCET Carleton University, Canada NATASHA S. MAUTHNER University of Aberdeen, Scotland O ver the past 10 years of teaching courses on research methods and feminist approaches to methodologies and epistemologies, a recurring question from our students concerns the distinctiveness of feminist approaches to methods, methodologies, and epistemologies. This key question is posed in different ways: Is there a specifically feminist method? Are there feminist methodologies and epistemologies, or simply feminist approaches to these? Given diversity and debates in feminist theory, how can there be a consensus on what constitutes “feminist” methodologies and epistemologies? Answers to these questions are far from straightforward given the continually evolving nature of feminist reflections on the methodological and epistemological dimensions and dilemmas of research. This chapter on feminist methodologies and epistemologies attempts to address these questions by tracing historical developments in this area, by considering what may be unique about feminist epistemologies and feminist methodologies, by reviewing some of sociology’s key contributions to this area of scholarship and by highlighting some key emergent trends. The chapter begins with a brief overview of the theoretical and historical development of feminist epistemologies, followed by a similar overview...

...Bob Dylan, noted singer-songwriter Singer-songwriters are musicians who write, compose and sing their own musical material including lyrics and melodies. As opposed to contemporary popular music singers who write their own songs, the term singer-songwriter describes a distinct form of artistry, closely associated with the folk-acoustic tradition. Singer-songwriters often provide the sole accompaniment to an entire composition or song, typically using a guitar or piano; both the compositions and the arrangements are written primarily as solo vehicles, with the material angled toward topical issues—sometimes political, sometimes introspective, sensitive, romantic, and confessional. The Text-Critical Problem of 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 and the Evidences of Its Origin

... In this chapter, first I investigate the issue of interpolation in ancient literature. Then, I present the arguments based on internal evidences that are both for and against the interpolation of 1 Cor. 14:34-35. Next, I provide a section on external evidences supporting a case of interpolation of vv. 34-35. In this final section we will investigate scribal awareness of multiple readings in Codex Vaticanus, Fuldensis and Ms. 88, which can be observed in some sigla left by the copyists of these texts. Chapter three examines the identity of the author(s) and the date of composition for both the interpolation in Corinthians and the Pastoral Epistles. Chapter three provides a survey on the role of women in the churches under Paul’s personal supervision. It also examines the ancient view of the role of women in the Greco-Roman society and how it impacted the deutero-Pauline understanding. Next, I present the most important issues behind the debate concerning the role of women between the deutero-Pauline school (represented especially by the Pastoral Epistles) and the Pauline tradition represented by the Acts of Paul. Finally, I investigate the canonization of the Taceat Mulier dogma. Chapter ONE The Origin of 1...

...Employers, job seekers, and puzzle lovers everywhere delight in William Poundstone's HOW WOULD YOU MOVE MOUNT FUJI? "Combines how-to with be-smart for an audience of job seekers, interviewers, Wired-style cognitive science hobbyists, and the onlooking curious. . . . How Would You Move Mount Fuji? gallops down entertaining sidepaths about the history of intelligence testing, the origins of Silicon Valley, and the brain-jockey heroics of Microsoft culture." — Michael Erard, Austin Chronicle "A charming Trojan Horse of a book While this slim book is ostensibly a guide to cracking the cult of the puzzle in Microsoft's hiring practices, Poundstone manages to sneak in a wealth of material on the crucial issue of how to hire in today's knowledge-based economy. How Would You Move Mount Fuji? delivers on the promise of revealing the tricks to Microsoft's notorious hiring challenges. But, more important, Poundstone, an accomplished science journalist, shows how puzzles can — and cannot — identify the potential stars of a competitive company.... Poundstone gives smart advice to candidates on how to 'pass' the puzzle game.... Of course, let's not forget the real fun of the book: the puzzles themselves." — Tom Ehrenfeld, Boston Globe "A dead-serious book about recruiting practices and abstract reasoning — presented as a puzzle game....
