Power of Snowboarding

When I first started I thought I wouldn’t be any good and I’d end up quitting. I thought that it would be something I’d do and end up hating it, but little did I know that feeling would change for the better.

I snowboarded a little bit when I was like 7 but I never got hooked on it, I guess I was too little to understand the joy. My whole family snowboarded. There would be these trips we’d take to Sunday River. It would be like three or four cars every time. My uncle was especially good. He was the one who persuaded me into snowboarding again, so when I was 12 I decided to try it again. So I started in this program where I was supposed to do lessons for an hour and then free ride for another hour. But I thought I knew what I was doing. So I skipped lessons, and by the end of the night I had fallen so many times I couldn’t sit down the next day.

So I ended up continuing that year but actually went to my lessons. I started to get the hang of it. So when the next winter came I decided to try it again, and I was doing good. Then the second time I went, I crashed really bad and broke my forearm and my wrist. I thought for sure I was done. But with help …show more content…
Snowboarding was huge in my family, but after that accident all my other uncles, aunts, and basically everyone in my family stopped snowboarding. But I had a different idea, I wanted to continue snowboarding to almost “represent” my uncle through my snowboarding. With that enthusiasm I started snowboarding more. I would work for my grandfather for weeks at a time during vacations to get money to go snowboarding. My grandfather would drop me off at the local mountain at 11 in the morning and I’d snowboard until closing, which was 9 at night.
