All through my life I have been striking out, but one week in the summer of 2017, I hit a grand slam. It was a rainy evening with steam rising from the narrow, winding roads that I arrived at my destination, Shippensburg University. I ventured miles away from my upbeat urban life to a dessert place to go to the camp of Keystone Girls State. This was the camp that turned my life a complete 360, and where I hit my grand slam. When I first arrived to the camp, I was skeptical at first because I heard about this camp from a friend. I had no clue of what the camp entailed, but the moment I stepped foot into the camp, I knew this was a place for me. My journey began when I was assigned to my mock city. At Geter City, we elected a mayor and other city officials, and I was elected city magistrate. As the city magistrate, I heard many trials being debated between cogent plaintiffs and lawyers. This is where my voice started to be heard, since I decided if the defendant was guilty or not. At the state level, I and six others were elected Supreme Court Justices. I felt honored because it meant my peers believed in me and that they …show more content…
I will never forget what my state representative told me when I visited him it the capital, “Make every opportunity count no matter how big or small and do your best. You never know where you'll end up.” He then laughed and said, “Just kidding, I know everybody says that, but always do something because you love it, not because you should do it. This is why I go build houses after working here.” I said, “Will do and that one day I will be back at this marvelous place as one of your colleagues.” This conversation is what I took away from the whole experience, since after the day I always remember what he said in the beautifully designed capital. The architecture was breathtaking and the paintings were so striking that I felt I was witnessing the time in United States

...D.Min. Project Prospectus Sharon L. Smith I. Title: Bridging the Gap: A Pilot Project Aimed at Mutually Equipping Church and Business Leaders for Kingdom Impact II. The Context: Followers of Jesus Christ who possess a divine calling, talents, and gifts to work and serve God through specific voluntary or paid vocations in the workplace face daily opportunities to impact the Kingdom of God. When believers walk by faith and obedience in the revelation that God’s divine presence and purpose is with them daily in their work lives, God empowers them to lead change that can transform lives, businesses, and even nations. Believers clearly see this truth in the lives of Abraham, Joseph, Daniel, and Nehemiah. The Great Commission (Matt. 28) commands believers to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person. This directive includes Holy Spirit-empowered witness in the marketplace with signs, wonders, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation. As His priests (1 Pet. 2:5; Rom. 12:1-2), God calls believers ordained for the twenty-first century workplace to worship and serve Him through their actions, words, and works. God’s Word calls for excellence in whatever a person does (Col. 3:17). Fruitfulness follows when believers root biblical ethics in excellence, and practice it in relationships and business decisions. Anthropologists and missiologists are observing major global shifts causing leaders to revise their understanding of the notion of culture...
