The story that I will be going through is an instance in time where I learned the value of going to the doctor when it appears that you are ill. As a child, I was prone to becoming sick. It was such an ordeal that some commented to my mother that it was like her son was “born without an immune system.” This specific time was around the year of third grade. I had already gone through a difficult time in third grade due to some complications that had occurred on a field trip to Chennault Park. However, I am going to be talking about the time when I came down with sickness in third grade, and I will not reminisce about the park. The story starts at about the beginning of the second semester at Swartz Upper Elementary School. I arrived at school the next day still feeling slightly groggy but nonetheless, I was informed that I was in good health. I would estimate that three days went past as I still felt the same groggy sensation. On the third night, I awoke from my slumber and was feeling extremely ill; I felt like an ant that was succumbing to a poison. I began to vomit, and after about the sixth time, my parents arrived and expected me to ride it out. We decided to make a trip to the hospital after the eleventh time. When we arrived at the hospital, we were placed into a room, and I was extremely dehydrated at this point. Once I received an IV in both arms, the doctors began to check me out. They eventually discovered that I had mono, which is a disease that weakens the immune
