Personal Narrative: My Five Strength Themes

My five strength themes are deliberative, futuristic, responsibility, relator and consistency.

I found these strengths to be consistent with who I am.

Deliberative is described as someone who is serious, careful with decisions, calculated, not easily flattered by words, and one who rarely gives compliments (Gallup 2017). It also describes another part where I feel mostly connected with and that is being “Private”. Privacy is something that I struggle with, I often view “being private” as being weak. But I realize now that this could be a strength and could be used in my favor.

Being methodical and careful in my travel plans is crucial, especially when traveling to another country, one mistake could ruin a trip. I often travel to different …show more content…
From an ownership and managerial perspective I am one who seeks talented people who are best to fill a position. Finding great people who can perform a job and represent the company well is important to me. I think it is important to hire people who are not only technical but are socially, spiritually and physically fit to perform. In my industry, a good reputation is the fuel that moves you forward. I have hired talented people who were capable and talented but lacked the skill of being friendly, and have caused riffs with clients.

From an employee perspective, I think that employers lack in the area of developing the people within a company. Many employees get overlooked because employers do not spend the time getting to know the people they have. As an employee of a company I am given instructions and expectations. I think that the strengths-finder is a great way to getting the right hire from the inside. I believe that having a “strength based” organization will give you maximum results.Organizations that utilize its employee based on their strengths will see efficiency in all areas of business. Based on Tom wrath’s book “strength finder 2.0”, “people who are given the opportunity to focus on their strengths each day are six times as likely to engage in their jobs and are three times as likely to report to having an excellent quality of life” (Wrath,2016).

What would a company look like that uses its employees strengths? I imagine it would be like a vehicle running on high octane, the higher the octane, the higher the tolerance for compression. I would also suggest that there would be a higher percentage for less mistakes and a higher tolerance while enduring company hardships. I have seen people thrive because they are passionate about their work, this could be due to how natural it is to them. Sometimes people work just to support their families, they feel that their only choice is to stop pursuing their goals. I have been guilty of working just to get a paycheck, and have been miserable at doing it. The most freedom, fun and engaging that I have ever experienced was when I was engaged in what I am passionate about. Working in an environment where I feel that I am doing what I love and comes naturally has produced great results for the company that I work for. To me that

She lives alone, with her two dogs, Tembi and Tor, who guard her as - “sentinels at the gate.”(P1.l16) These two fierce and powerful dogs are trained by her late husband to follow specific commands. She had have allot of visitors at her gate begging for food, money and cloths. Some day came a young, persistent black guy (William Sidlayi) to Lillian’s house asking for a donation. Lilian wanted to give some money but she only got five rand in her pocket, afterwards he tricks her to letting him inside her house, which is surrounded by a ten feet high wall, to work for the money she gave him. He worked about one hour in the garden, cleaning up the leaves. Afterwards he demanded ten extra rands for his work, even though he already was given five rands in donation. Wiliam gets anxious and Lillian asks him to leave the house, but he refuses. Lillian gave the dogs order to attack him, meanwhile she find her husband’s weapon, which she threats him with. That is the reason why Wiliam leaves her property, and she tells him that she is going to report him to the police. With the increasing emphasis on efficiency and effectiveness in health care, how a nurse manages her time is an important consideration. Whilst time management is recognized as an important component of work performance and professional nursing practice, the reality of this process in nursing practice has been subject to scant empirical investigation. Aim. To explore how nurses organize and manage their time. Methods. A qualitative study was carried out, incorporating narratives (22 nurses), focus groups (24 nurses) and semi-structured interviews (22 nurses). In my role as practitioner researcher I undertook observation and had informal conversations, which provided further data. Study sites were five health care organizations in the United Kingdom during 1995–1999. Findings. Time management is complex, with nurses using a range of time management strategies and a repertoire of actions. Two of these strategies, namely routinization and prioritizing, are discussed, including their implications for understanding time management by nurses in clinical practice. Conclusions. How we are affected by death, and how we accept that it is inevitable seems to be a theme for many short stories and poems. Death brings a struggle between the dying and the family and friends of the dying. All the loved ones of the dying want them to do is fight, to encourage them to stay positive, even when there is no chance of survival. We want to be selfish and want to spend as much time as we can with them before they die. Just as the two poets in these poems do. In Dog’s Death by John Updike, the dog wants to lie down, to hide so she can die peacefully but the family rushes her to the vet to try and save her. She decides to step into the shoes of the working class and embody their way of life. She does this experiment to shed light and bring attention on how people in America are able live on minimum wage. The purpose of this study was to explore, appreciate, and describe their experiences using a phenomenological methodology. Narratives were collected from seven participants who have a parent diagnosed with PD and analyzed according to Colaizzi’s (1978) phenomenological data analysis method. Seven thematic clusters were identified and an exhaustive description is presented to summarize the essence of their lived experience. The study indicates a strong sense of essential positivism from the participants’ stories, and overall, it seems PD has brought some degree of biological, psychological, socially, and/or spiritual meaning to their lives that they may not have otherwise noticed or experienced.
