I have always been very involved. I have been dancing since I was three and take 4-7 classes a week of many different types. Each class ranges between 45-60 minutes in length. I became a part of band and choir when I was in middle school and was the first chair flute player through all three middle school years, despite challenges from all the other players. I received an award from my band director for my musical talents. I became a part of a middle school show choir in my eighth-grade year called “Cougar First Edition.” We sang and danced for different events around town and rehearsed for three hours once a week.
I auditioned for the Varsity Singers as an incoming freshman and made it in with only five other freshmen. Varsity Singers is a competitive show choir that puts in a minimum two three-hour rehearsals weekly. Practices on the weekends could be anywhere from 6-12 hours straight. I was the only instructor that knew clogging and other instructors would have the ability to take over my classes. This semester, I have taught one competition clogging team and will be taking them to competition in less than a week. I will be competing with my own teams, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and clogging at this competition, too. I have also participated in school theater events like our Variety Show (talent show) for my last three years of high school and participated in the winter play and spring musical at my school during my senior year.
