Appropriate and Inappropriate Behaviors
Appropriate Behavior:

1. Follow Classroom Rules: Promotes a readiness to be able to learn while inside the classroom.

2. Keep Hands Feet and Objects to Yourself: Promotes respect for each other's body and personal space.

3. Don't Talk Out of Turn: Helps prevent you from missing something important that someone else might be trying to say.

4. Use Positive Words: Sends a message of how you want to be treated and how people should treat you.

Inappropriate Behaviors:

1. No Bullying, Verbal, Physical, or Social. Helps maintain a feeling of safety and judgment free classroom.

2. No Yelling: Promotes a positive tone for the classroom atmosphere

3.No Cheating: All students are responsible for their own work.

4. No Stealing: Allows the students to realize they need to respect everyone’s personal items inside the school.

Teachers and the schools atmosphere help students make a distinction between appropriate and inappropriate behavior. The teacher is often the best person to lead by example. The teacher sets the tone for the classroom as a whole. Children require an example to determine the correct response between right and wrong. Teachers often will use a reward system to point out appropriate behaviors as well as inappropriate behaviors. Reward systems only works if there is consistence and how quick the teacher reacts to the behavior. One example can be a token reward system. This is a nonverbal cue. The teacher might start out with five tokens. Every time an inappropriate behavior for that specific child or the entire class a token is taken away. This gives the classroom the ability to maintain order.

I feel Confucius would agree with my list of both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors. He would also I am quite sure expand on them greatly. Confucius represented a high level of ethical

Two that I feel align most with my own ideas of how children best learn are the theories of Jean Piaget and Lev S. Vygotsky.
