There is going to be 3 attractions I talk about in this brief essay about southern living. The first attraction I will talk about is Piedmont Park. Then, I will discuss the famous attraction of the Georgia Aquarium. And finally, I will talk about the High Museum of Art. These are going to be the three attractions that I will be discussing and explaining today.

The Piedmont Park is the first attraction I will be discussing. Piedmont Park is located 2 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. The park is approximately 185 acres and is near the botanical garden. This is a popular place for organized sports. It’s also known for annual celebrations and events. On weekends and holidays, the park becomes live as music, sports, and fun festivities spread throughout the park. Inside Piedmont Park there …show more content…
When the aquarium first opened in 2005, it was the considered the world’s largest aquarium. The aquarium contains between 100,000 and 120,000 fish and other sea creatures. The aquarium also features a “4D” movie “Deepo’s Undersea 3D Wondershow”, a section with different exhibits of frogs and other attractions. There are six different galleries displayed. They are the Georgia Explorer, Tropical Diver, Ocean Voyager, Cold Water Quest, River Scout, and Dolphin Tales. The Georgia Explorer features a number of touch tanks with rays and sharks aimed especially towards the children. The River Scout features an overhead river where visitors can see North American fish from the bottom up. The Dolphin Tales Gallery is the newest addition to the aquarium and it houses an indoor dolphin stadium. The Cold Water Quest features animals from the polar and temperate regions of the world and contains most of the mammal species in the aquarium’s selection. The Ocean Voyager contains 6.3 million US gallons of water and several thousand fish from about 50 species. And the Tropical Diver mainly features Indo-Pacific tropical

Maryland’s Geology

...Unit 9 Assignment 1: Geology of the Area Maryland’s Geology From the Atlantic coast on the east to the Appalachian Plateau on the west, Maryland has a great variety of geology and landforms. Maryland is part of six physiographic provinces (shown in the figure below). A physiographic province is a geographic area in which the geology (including lithology and structure) and climate history have resulted in landforms that are distinctly different from adjacent areas. An overview of the geology by physiographic province is provided below. Atlantic Coastal Plain The Atlantic Coastal Plain Province is underlain by a wedge of unconsolidated sediments including gravel, sand, silt, and clay, which overlaps the rocks of the eastern Piedmont along an irregular line of contact known as the Fall Zone.  Eastward, this wedge of sediments thickens to more than 8,000 feet at the Atlantic coast line.  Beyond this line is the Atlantic Continental Shelf Province, the submerged continuation of the Coastal Plain, which extends eastward for at least another 75 miles where the sediments attain a maximum thickness of about 40,000 feet. The sediments of the Coastal Plain dip eastward at a low angle, generally less than one degree, and range in age from Triassic to Quaternary.  The younger formations crop out successively to the southeast across Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.  A thin layer of Quaternary gravel and sand covers the older formations throughout much of the area.
