Hélène Judith de Reggio and Jacques Toutant-Beauregard. Pierre had three brothers and sisters and was only taught French since he lived in Louisiana. At the age of twelve he moved to New
York and learned how to speak English during the beginning of his four years there. Once Pierre was finished with schooling he attended the United States Military Academy at West point, New
York. His instructor was named Robert Anderson, who later would surrender to Beauregard during the Civil War. Since he was born in Louisiana and was now up north having a surname made him stand out and he did not like that, so he dropped it and treated Toutant …show more content…
During his time there he was given many nicknames such as: Felix, Bory, Little Creole, Little
Napoleon, Little Frenchman, and later Hero of Fort Sumter. Soon after that the Mexican-American war broke out and Beauregard was an engineer under General Winfield Scott. During the war he was promoted and given new titles such as
Brevet Major during the battles of Churubusco and Contreras, and Major during the battle of
Chapultepec which he was injured with a shot to the shoulder and thigh. He was a bold and thought he had done much in recent battles and helping with strategies and felt he deserved more brevets than his colleagues, one of which was Robert E. Lee. So, when he did not receive as much he was upset and felt like he deserved more than he got. In 1841, Pierre Beauregard married Marie Antoinette Laure Villeré, she was a beautiful pale woman with memorizing blue eyes. Beauregard and Marie had three children together,
René, Henri, and Laure. Unfortunately, Marie died during the birth of Laure. Ten years later
Beauregard remarried to a woman Marguerite Caroline Deslonde. After he returned from Mexico in 1848 he oversaw the Engineering
