About Tencent Holdings Limited
Chinese name:腾讯控股有限公司
Tencent Holdings Limited is a Chinese investment holding company whose subsidiaries provide media, entertainment, internet and mobile phone value-added services, and operate online advertising services in China. It is one of the largest Internet companies in the world. It is founded by Pony Ma and his 4 friends with only $120,000 on 12 November 1998.It has 26,962 employees working in this company(Dec 2013). The net income in 2014 was around CN ¥ 78.932. The head quarter is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.
The famous products of this company are QQ and Wechat, both are instant messaging applications.

Road to success
1993 Graduated from Shen Zhen University (Computer Science), Pony worked at various companies such as China Motion Telecom Development Ltd. and Shenzhen Runxun communications co Ltd. in the research and development department for internet paging systems and internet calling systems, respectively.
In 1998, Pony left RunXun communication co Ltd. and co-founded Tencent, Inc. along with his 4 friends.
At first , there was just Pony and one of his friend co-founded it, the other 3 joined them consequently (They are his schoolmate in both high school and university).First, they were about to write program for companies , but they failed to get the chance, because at that time, there were just 2 of them do it. Second, They planned to write a program and sell it to the companies. 1999,they launched a program called QQ (originally named OICQ),an internet messaging service. In order to capture a greater market share, Tencent began to offer the service as a free download and even talk with the users by creating a new user. It had over 5 million users joined the service in 1 year since its stability and nearly zero lagging problem comparing with the other internet messaging service. With an increase in user numbers but unable to cash in on its huge user base, Ma tried to sell OICQ, but no deal could be reached, so Pony ran outside every day and looked for capital investment with QQ version which has modified 6 times and 20 more pages of business proposal. In 2000,Pacific Century CyberWorks(PCCW)and IDG decided to invest in his business with $2.2 millionfor a 40% stake, which provided to be the kick start that Tencent needed.
To continue Ma's company's success, QQ users were offered more value-added services each year, such as QQ membership, ring tones, and other services for cellular telephones, as well as the ability to customize some products. Ma also signed deals to work with a number of internet technology companies around the world. By 2004, Tencent was the largest IM service in China. About 335 million Chinese, or 74 percent of the market, used Tencent's services. 16 June 2004, Tencent successfully listed in the Hong Kong stock exchange. Ma himself was worth $190 million in 2004. He was named a Global Business Influential by Time magazine as well as one of the top ten Economic Influentials in Innovation by Beijing, China's China Central Television.

Pony Ma’s Leardership style
While he contributed the majority of Tencent’s seed capital, Pony decided to reduce his share (now is around 9.87%). He believes that, by removing his monopoly on the company, he can create a more democratic environment. Pony seeks to encourage brainstorming and create a company culture where employees are not afraid to question the status quo.
Pony also takes an interest in employee welfare. On top of regular pay rises, Pony has actively worked with local government to help stabilize housing prices. In recognition of his efforts on their behalf, his employees have the nickname” Brother Pony”.
In Tencent, Pony is not only the CEO, he is also the product manager and principle user experience designer. Insists that every product of Tencent be tested by him before its release . He enjoys testing products from the perspective of an ordinary user and making suggestions with regards to the user interface, functionality and interaction design.
Criticism
It can be found that most of Tencent’s products are obviously copy from the others, and it leads to criticisms from the other China’s Business Man. For example, Jack Ma, the CEO of the Alibaba criticized that the biggest problem of Tencent Paipai.com is lack of innovation, it’s all are copied from the others.” Sina’s Wang Zhidong have also criticized that “Ma Huateng is the king of copying others, and he does so audaciously and blatantly,”

Star Horse Therapy

...Bucky is a small pony who has proven that "the outside of a horse is good for the inside of man". We are proud to have him nominated to the Tennessee Animal Hall of Fame. His story is as follows. Lynn Petr received a call one evening from our farrier, Ed Meador. After much hesitation, he prefaced his request with, "Now I don't recommend horses to anyone and Lord knows I don't recommend ponies, but a client has one that's just too good to kill". With further explanation it seemed a lady was selling all her horses and had one pony left. He was turned out on 80 acres of grass by himself, so of course he foundered. Instead of taking the time necessary for his recovery, this lady was sending the pony to the killers. Ed had known the pony for a few years and realized he had special qualities not always found in ponies - manners and no vices. He was hoping STAR would save him. You have to realize in this business, Lynn receives calls all the time from people trying to give us horses. Many of these give-a-way horses are old, lame or full of vices, so she has to be very critical and emotionally detached. Her normal procedure is to screen the animals in person before bringing them to the farm for more in-depth testing. We didn't have this kind of time. There wouldn't be a place to send him if he failed our screening and Ed couldn't even remember how big this pony was (or he conveniently forgot!) But, against all her normal policies, for some reason she agreed to take the pony if Ed would...

Marketing for Arabians Ltd

...Shaunya Fraysher Arabians LTD began as a tax deduction with five Straight Egyptian Arabian mares used for breeding in the 1970s. This company has become the world’s leading breeder of these rare horses. Arabians LTD enjoys annual net income of approximately 1 million dollars, not bad for a couple who started out looking for a tax break. Currently they market mostly oversees in Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other countries in the Mid-East. Here in America their marketing is limited to Arabian horse magazines. This is the most efficient marketing campaign for the company at this time; however, I see opportunities for advancement. Egyptian Arabians are so rare that if not for being in captivity they would be on the endangered species list. This breed is the oldest know horse, both archeologically and recorded breeding, in the world. After all, who has not admired the hoses of the Pharaohs? Every horse must be able to have its ancestry traced to the Egyptian desert, wild caught prior to the early 1800s. No intentional breeding for physical characteristics other than that of the originals is permitted. In 2006, there were 17,000 true SE Arabians in the world. Using this as a marketing strategy here in the US could potentially bring in new investors who might invest for this reason. Expanding the advertisements into other horse magazines, web sites, and social media adds expressing the need to save this breed could potentially bring in financing or purchasers wanting to help “save”...

...2013 Chevy Camaro I. The Chevrolet has an abundant product family that is versatile across the entire automobile spectrum. Chevrolet offers any type of car that is on the consumer market, with the Camaro as their affordable sport car selling at a basic price of $23,000. The Camaro is an affordable and economical rear-wheel-drive performance sports car with a V-6 or V-8 engine. The Camaro is a two door coupe that seats four people comfortably with an estimated 30 miles per gallon. The Camaro can be classified as a red ocean as it competes directly with other retro-inspired muscle cars, including the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. This car is geared for optimal customer user experience. The powerful engine and old American muscle car style gives the user a full exclusive sports car experience. For Chevrolet, safety is extremely important to their brand. The innovation of having high performance headlights with multiple air bags helped give the car the rating of a perfect NHTSA Crash Test Ratings of 5 stars. II. The Chevy Camaro is targeted and segmented to a specific market because there is a particular customer group who is interested in this product. For starters, Chevy cannot start marketing and targeting families with children because this car would be impractical for that situation. It would be just as impractical for Chevy to target businesses and market this car as a flexible all work condition vehicle. This car is clearly a sports car, and should be...

Then in a multipage write-up, answer why was there change, what changed, and what will be the challenges and issues (business and technical) of the future generation. On September 12, 1966, General Motors first displayed a preview of their next generation car, the Camaro. There were two main reasons why General Motors came out with this car. First, General Motors was trying to create a new type of car to satisfy consumer’s desire for a strong and faster type of car. Second, it was General Motor’s way to compete with Ford’s new Mustang. When the Camaro first came out, it was classified as a compact car. However, they later changed the classification to a pony car, and it has been seen more as a touring car, sports car, or muscle car. Along with the changes in names, there have also been many changes in style, technology, features, and specifications. General Motors is now in production of their 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro. On January 6th, 2006, General Motors started brainstorming ideas and concepts for this new generation car with a new body, wheelbase, engine, transmission, suspension, and much more. After two years of designing, engineering, manufacturing, and problems, on July 21, 2008, General Motors officially unveiled the production of the 2010 5th generation Camaro. This new generation Camaro was able to enhance or surpass most, if not all, of the 4th generation’s features....

Red Pony

...The classic novel The Red Pony by John Steinbeck includes four stories about a young boy Jody Tiflin who lives on his father’s California ranch. Similar to Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, the story takes place in America in the early 20th century. Each of the novel’s small town setting provides a simple yet unique economy. Through the stories of Jody Tiflin and Janie Crawford, I have made some conclusions about their specific economy. I believe that the economies of The Red Pony and Their Eyes Were Watching God contain a relatively independent economy that features many dedicated and self-employed members of society. Through the short stories in The Red Pony, Jody learns the importance of being an independent rancher who can provide for himself and his family. Although Jody is only ten years old at the start of the first story, his father Carl Tiflin believes that the most important way to mature is through firsthand experience. Mr. Tiflin asks “If you could have another horse would you work for it…?” and states that “Billy says the best way for you to be a good hand with horses is to raise a colt” (60, Steinbeck). Billy, the only paid worker on the Tiflin ranch, adds “It is the only way” (60, Steinbeck). As an aspiring leader in the business world, I completely agree with the way Carl Tiflin is teaching his son. Just like in business, the only way to get a true grasp on becoming a rancher is to actually get firsthand experience. Through the knowledge...

William Frederick Cody Informative Speech

...William Frederick Cody was born in LeClair, Iowa on February 26, 1846, and moved with his family near Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. Upon the death of his father in 1857 Cody was employed variously as an ox team driver and served as a messenger for the firm Russell, Majors, and Wadell, which later founded the famous Pony Express. Cody was probably one of its riders for a few months in 1861. According to legend, he once covered 300 miles in a little over 21 hours, using 20 horses. The Pony Express met its demise on October 24, 1861, when the new telegraph service across the West was connected coast to coast. The young Cody gained experience as an assistant wagon master on trips to Fort Laramie and Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Besides being an experienced stagecoach driver and covering the route from Plum Creek (Lexington) to Fort Kearny in Nebraska, Cody prospected for gold in the Pike’s Peak rush of 1858-1860....

Does It Matter?

...Does IT Matter? I do not think that with Nicholas Carr’s article ‘IT Doesn’t Matter” that Carr necessarily meant that Information Technology does not matter, but more that it has become a “commodity” as stated in the article. Meaning that businesses are now so dependent on IT, and it is now so common in the business world; therefore, IT now only offers little competitive advantage between companies. Companies view Information Technology as such and important success factor that businesses world wide, even during this economic downfall, continue to spend over $2 trillion a year on Information Technology, where in 1965 less than 5 percent of a company’s capital expenditures went to IT. Carr’s suggestion is that since the return on companies investment in information technology is so low, that business owners should contemplate the amount that they pay for Information Technology. In my opinion, I think that Information Technology does matter, and companies should use IT to their advantage, and that companies can profit off of using IT. To me the most important assets that IT provides are the ease and convenience of the Microsoft Windows applications as well as the Internet for research. For example companies using Excel to keep organized records of customers, associates, employees, and etc. People using the IT to do research on companies and products that they may have an interest in purchasing. However, I am still firm believer that we should not forget how to use...

Alibaba Case

...Case Study: Should Alibaba Group Centralize? Jack Ma founded the technologically evolving and economically progressing business, Alibaba Group. Ma saw the potential of the Internet early on and created a multifaceted conglomerate, capturing a business market at its foundation. His goal was to provide a simple, efficient e-commerce platform and now holds half of the B2B in China. Wherever there was a need, Ma would adapt and create different business units to effectively provide the service. Alongside online trading, Ma provided a platform for retailers, individuals, payment services, management solutions, and an entertainment portal. Alibaba Group developed synergies within the units and subsidiaries to coordinate ideas, spread resources, and develop additional units to complement each other. He down streamed manufacturers provided a cheap storefront and added value services (such as keyword bidding and commission based sales). His model was unlike any other at the time. This kind of consolidation, led to competition among the subsidiaries. This kind of competition, however, has inspired efficiency and differentiation. Ma promoted collaboration and created cross-business and cross-functional teams. The business units also did not depend on large teams but rather channeled its focus on engineering and customer service. By the mid 2000’s, China had transitioned into a primarily private economy—which ultimately brought the nation to an economic boom. By 2009, 70% of Alibaba...

...ALIBABA Group Holding Brief History. Alibaba cooperation is a global wide Internet company founded by Jack Ma, Chinese name Ma Yun.Although Alibaba was founded in 1999, the story of how the company came to be actually dates back to 1995, when Jack Ma was on a trip to the U.S. and first became exposed to the Internet. As the story goes, he tried searching for the word "beer" on Yahoo but the search results did not turn up a single Chinese option. In fact, he could hardly find anything about China on the Internet at all. After returning home, he founded a company called China Pages - a directory of various Chinese companies looking for customers abroad. China Pages was a flop. But a few years later, Ma took another stab at an Internet business. With a group of 17 friends and $60,000 of funds, Alibaba was born. [Baidupedia Web] Within only 15 years, Alibaba became the largest e-commerce company in the world, with approximately $300 billion in annual gross merchandise volume ("GMV") - or nearly 1.5 times the combined GMV of Amazon and eBay. Of course, she was only a child.” 334 Clarence returned to Chattanooga in 1912 with the Stokes Troupe. He arranged for its managers, Lonnie and Cora Fisher to give Bessie an audition. She was hired as a dancer rather than a singer, because the company also included the unknown singer, Ma Rainey. Bessie eventually moved on to performing in various chorus lines, making the 8"81" Theater in Atlanta her home base. She became its biggest star after signing with Columbia Records. She moved to Philadelphia in 1923, and began her recording career. There she met and fell in love with Jack Gee, a security guard. They married June 7, 1923, just as her first record was released. During the marriage, which was stormy with infidelity on both sides, Bessie became the highest paid black entertainer of the day, heading her own shows, which sometimes featured as many as 40 troupers, and touring in her own railroad car.
