Water circulates through the land just as it does through the human body, transporting, dissolving, replenishing nutrients and organic matter, while carrying away waste material. Further in the body, it regulates the activities of fluids, tissues, cells, lymph, blood and glandular

Breaking Tradition

...Breaking Tradition Will fiber ever make it to the desktop? This article is basically is about the differences between copper network infrastructure cabling and fiber-optic cable. Although it is overall cheaper to install and obtain fiber-optic cable companies are still electing to us copper networking. The reason that copper is still on top is because the companies that manufacture it are making sure that copper wire is still being made specifically for certain infrastructures. Copper wiring also seems to be a lot easier to work with for the time being due to lack of engineering economical of the 24 or 48 port fibers switches. I think that quality of the information was short, sweet and to the point. This article was not overloaded with information. If also was not difficult for anyone person to understand the point of it. I do not know much about the in and outs of computers. Even less about the behind screens of putting the network and the hardware together. I think the way the article was presented was done very well. Personally, I think that it take time for people get on broad with new technology. In my opinion, this article seems to be well informative. Also in reading the material it was very descriptive in regards to the contrast between copper cabling and fiber-optic cable. It went into detail regarding both the pros and cons between for the use of fiber-optic cable. However at the end of the article the writer proceeds to states that he feels that...

Information is power - this is why we are studying PAD 525. The government needs information for national security purposes. Terrorists and hackers find ways to access sensitive information from the government.  National secrets are at bay. Individual identities are no longer private because personal information are easily accessible along cyber-highway.  If you have also read the Patriot Act, you will note enormous anxiety on the part of the government to search for and use information for national security purposes. The government is not only trying to contain politically motivated terrorism, it is also trying to contain cyber-terrorism. Examine the security challenges and threats facing the US government through the lenses of the emerging cyber-security threats. Currently we are experiencing a boom in technology from computers that lets you stream movies to you television to phones that lets you take pictures and gives your exact global positioning systems location (gps). Mobile Computing

...computing has increased tremendously. Everyone has a preference in what devices they want to use and how beneficial the device will be to them while they are mobile computing. Due to the high demand and usage of mobile computing no matter where a person may go they are for sure to see someone utilizing a mobile computing device. Although mobile computing is now very popular and can be taken advantage of with many different devices this was not always the case. The first mobile computing device was a laptop named the Osborne 1. The Osborne Computer Corporation announced the Osborne 1 at the West Coast Computer Faire a San Francisco’s Brooks Hall (McCracken, 2011). Osborne 1 was the first portable pc and also shipped with software much like we have today. The Osborne 1 although it was portable was nothing like the laptops of today. The sewing machine-sized Osborne 1 weighed 24 pounds (slightly more than ten modern-day 11” MacBook Airs) and sported a handle; it created a class of PC that would forever be known as “luggables (McCracken, 2011, para. 22).” Osborne 1 was short lived when the company filed for bankrupty in 1983. Over the years, the design of mobile computing devices has changed tremendously. The fact that computers are capable of doing this and be so mobile was explained by the Moore’s law. Gordon Moore, a cofounder of Intel, developed his law in 1965 and claimed that every two years the number of transistors that can be placed on an integrated circuit doubles while...

Star Trek Technology We Use Everyday

...Star Trek Technology We Use Everyday Star Trek technology has become reality that we use in our daily lives. There are many different forms of technology fields that have been shown in Star Trek as a first that have become a reality rather than a Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) fantasy. Star Trek technology came from the great imaginative minds of writers and designers with little to no knowledge of science in the original series. It wasn't until the second series that they started to incorporate actual scientific methods and terms. Advancements in science have come about through the influence of creative people thinking of the future. This technology has been instrumental in how we conduct our lives. Contemporary technology has been influenced by Star Trek in many ways. Phones were around for many years before Star Trek; however, they were tied down to the house or office by wires and the bulkiness of the devices. No one could possibly make a phone call on the go, yet they could by using a phone booth. However, using a phone booth would not be of much use since it couldn't be carried around. One of the greatest inventors of this decade, Dr. Martin Cooper, decided to come up with a new form of communicating with the rest of the world. "Dr. Martin Cooper found himself tripping over his phone cord when he saw Star Trek appear on the TV playing in the background. Cooper watched with envy as Captain Kirk calmly conversed while walking across an alien landscape." (Laytner, 2011) While...
