Positioning and Communications for Weight Loss Drug

In clinical trials, Metabical proved to be safe and effective in stimulating weight loss for moderately overweight individuals, being more effective than over the counter weight loss products like “Alli” being the only OTC accepted by the FDA, but this drug came with negative side effects like incontinence, abdominal pain, increased defecation and this worsened if the patient’s diet contained too much fat. This revolutionary prescription drug was produced by Cambridge Sciences Pharmaceuticals (CSP) for weight loss, which was the first and only prescription drug to obtain FDA approval. The drug was developed to help aid people in the overweight segment to lose 10 to 30 pounds. Barbara Printup is the marketing director in charge of selecting a price for the new prescription drug. In a study CSP did with Metabical, people with a body mass index (BMI) of 28 to 30 had an average weight loss of 26 pounds over a 12 week period. At the same time, people with a BMI of 25-28 had an average weight loss of 15 pounds. This study found the new prescription drug to be useful and effective like with any other new product, numerous issues need to be considered before Metabical is actually introduced in the market. The decision makers in purchasing Metabical are overweight people with BMI between 25 and 30, According to the US survey • 34% overweight • 25.8% obese • 4.7% severely obese, but Metabical will also be directed to Healthcare providers so they know the benefits and advantages of this drug also because Metabical is a prescription drug unlike its competitor Alli which is an over the counter drug. All other alternatives for Metabical either have negative side effects or are not regulated by FDA. Metabical is the only FDA approved drug

While the use of PowerPoint and multimedia in the classroom has significantly increased globally in recent years (Connor and Wong, 2004; Bartsch and Cobern, 2003), few studies have systematically investigated its impact on student learning and attitudes. Rebele et al. (1998) note that little research exists regarding integration of technology in the accounting curriculum, and suggest that accounting researchers should examine whether technology improves learning. One study that has examined the relationship between multimedia and student learning and attitudes was conducted by Butler and Mautz (1996). In a laboratory experiment conducted during a 30-minute time period, they found that multimedia did not affect student recall in all situations. Butler and Mautz did find an interaction between the effects of the multimedia presentation and the student’s preferred class representation style (i.e., whether the student was considered a “verbal” or “imaginal” learner).
