When you walk around the world, whom are you viewed as? Do you hold your head high, with pretension and pride, or do you hold your head high with self confidence and grace? What’s the difference? Perhaps the presence of the tarnishing Pride: “a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.” Pride is a bewildering quality. It is a trait confounding to deliberate. Many struggle with the notion which states pride is harmful. Is it? Does pride create a negative environment? Should fit be resisted? If so, when?

One must attempt to contemplate both sides of pride: beneficial and detrimental. Along with that, one has to acknowledge when the time to resist pride is; when one starts to compare himself to others and treat them differently. A multitude of men and women struggle repeatedly regarding issues of pride. How is it possible to solve this dilemma? Georges Bernanos once stated, “It’s a fine thing to rise above pride, but you must have pride in order to do so.” Take pride in how far you’ve come and what you’ve worked so ardently to accomplish. Be happy with who you are and content with what you have. But at the same time, do not let the pride travel into your brain and heart. Do not let your mind wander off and compare yourself to others. Act with minimum ‘bad pride’ and maximum ‘good pride,’ humility, confidence and self exceptence. (As Cinderella’s mom once mentioned, “Have courage and be kind.”
