Whenever I walk in late somewhere I will utter this quote and get surprised smiles and people saying “Oh the Princess Diaries I love that movie!” That movie was brought to life by a wonderful author Meg Cabot. Although the Disney movie did not directly follow the book it was based off of it, and there are many similarities. Meg Cabot is quite like Mia in the sense that she is tall, and has lived in an apartment, yet unlike little Mia she’s not a secret air to a small kingdom. When Meg writes a book she is sure to put a piece of her into it. Meg’s mystery series really ties into her life. Meg lived in New York City, she was an assistant residency hall director, and she attended college just like her main character Heather wells. This novel tells about a young- American-teenage girl named Mia Thermopolis who lives with her Artist mother, Helen in Manhattan. Mia going to a private school called Albert Einstein High and included into unpopular students in her school. She has a lot of main problems that she should dealing like the non-vegetarian food at her school, making sure her cat, Fat Louie, doesn’t eat another sock, and her social life, which is sadly lacking. Mia has a normal life like other teenage girl but one day her life changed 180° after she met with her dad at the Plaza Hotel. Her dad tells her that he is the crown prince of Genovia, a small European principality, and she is the sole heir to the throne since his testicular cancer has left him unable to have more children. At the first time, Mia does not believe it; she knows they are rich, so that’s why she can spend the summers with her father and his grandmother at her chateau in France. But she thinks her dad is just a politician.
