This assignment will focus on answering the following 3 question:
1. Explain what “proctoring” means and why the UoPeople requires proctored exams.
a. The answer to this is found in the FAQ section of the UOPeople Student Services website, https://students.uopeople.edu/Registration/FAQ.aspx. Basically, proctoring means that someone is acting as a supervisor over an individual or individuals, while they write an exam. The UOPeople requires proctored exams primarily because it’s an online university. There is not a classroom environment where students can take exams with instructors present. The FAQ section also lists the following reasons:
i. “To guarantee proper student verification, that meets the standards of accrediting agencies.” ii. “To assure that the student who takes the proctored final exam is the same person …show more content…
According to the FAQ section of the UOPeople Student Services website, https://students.uopeople.edu/Registration/FAQ.aspx:
Once a student has registered for a course with a proctored exam they will need to click on “add a proctor” link, which is located next to the course the student has registered for. This link will allow the student to input all proctor details. Once this is done the proctor will receive an email from Student Services asking them to confirm their willingness to be a proctor for the student.
As far as who I might choose as a proctor? After reviewing the criteria we’ve already discussed in the previous question, I would say the primary point that narrows down the selection options is the point that they have to be “A reputable person of integrity”. For me, I would choose my pastor. He meets all of the requirements, and quite honestly, he would go out of his way to hold me accountable if I was in any way trying to pull a fast one on him. I don’t need that policing for me not to cheat, but I feel that having a proctor such as him helps take away some of the perceptions that could be attached to a proctor of less

I’ve heard people say that the FSOE is the most grueling government exam because the Department of Foreign Affairs is, they say, the most elite office in the government. Some even dare say that the exam is more difficult than the bar. I really wouldn’t know but one thing’s for sure: the mortality rate is definitely higher in the FSOE. Out of 628 examinees in 2011, only 9 passed. That's 1.4%. I heard there was even a year when no one passed.  I'm one of the lucky 9 who made it. And so to help future examinees prepare for the FSOE, I thought of writing down and sharing my experience. This is my own small way to thank and show appreciation for the people who supported me and helped me make it through.  The exam is difficult because it’s the type of exam which you can’t really study for.
