...Social Responsibility Strategy for Ladybug Lawn Care LLC Ladybug Lawn Care is a small landscaping company located in Tucson, Arizona. The company is owned by David and Carol Smith; they employ 6 full time people and at least 4 part-time seasonal employees. David does the designing, Carol does the bookkeeping for the business, and they both work in the field with the employees. Ladybug Lawn Care not only maintains existing landscaping but remodels and designs new gardens for its customers. Because the company is located in Southeastern Arizona, they specialize in desert landscaping or Xeriscaping. They also provide their customers full service landscaping options including tropical, green lawns, ponds and fountains. They subcontract jobs beyond their scope such as pools, gazebos, patio, fencing, and gates, to businesses that have the same ethical and environmental beliefs. Environmental Considerations “The environmental dimension of corporate social responsibility refers to business’s impact on the environment. The goal, as a socially responsible company, is to engage in business practices that benefit the environment.” [ (Smith, 2012) ] The area in which the company is located is considered high desert; consequently the region is often in a state of drought. Ladybug owners and staff have made the effort to become knowledgeable in the use of Xeriscaping. Xeriscaping is a term trademarked by the water department of Denver, Colorado (Denver Water). “Xeriscaping...

Personal Goals

...thinking failure is an option. There are always barriers to overcome, but overcoming the milestones keep us motivated to achieve what we originally set out to do. My personal goals for the future consist of relocating, followed by a professional promotion into management, and completing my degree in order to have a successful life ahead of me. A personal short term goal of mine is to sell my home. I am preparing my home for resale and hope to place it on the market with a realtor in the next few months. There have been many barriers to overcome to overcome in this preparation. To date, I have replaced the kitchen, bathrooms, air conditioner, carpet, tile, and painted inside and out. There are still a few cosmetic things I need to do such as fixing up the yard and staining the driveway. Once those things are completed I will contact the realtor to obtain an appraisal to see how much I can list my property for. My long term personal goal is downsizing from my current five bedroom home and purchasing a town home. Three of my four children are grown and have moved into their own homes which just leaves myself and my youngest daughter. Living in this large house is no longer necessary nor financially beneficial. With the help of a realtor along with my own research I hope to find a property that fits my budget and is the right size for myself and my daughter. I hope to be in my new town home within the next year. I want to remain in the Trinity, Florida area close to my family, friends...

Professional Presence and Influence

...Professional Presence and Influence Dina L. Bredeau, ARNP Western Governors University Society has progressed both socially and technologically as has medicine. This includes our understanding of health and healing as evidenced by Dossey’s three eras of medicine. Era 1, beginning in the 1800’s, reflected the prevailing view that health and illness are totally physical in nature and therapies included surgical procedures and drugs. Era 2, starting in the 1950’s, related to the mind and body. Practitioners began to realize that emotions and feelings can impact health. Era 3, still developing today, began in the 1990’s and builds on the previous eras by adding the spirit and proposes that consciousness is not confined to one’s individual body. The mind is boundless and may not only affect a person’s body, but the body of another person at a distance, even if that person is unaware (Dossey, n.d.) A. Professional Presence As the three eras of medicine have evolved over the years, it is apparent that they are intertwined, yet very different as evidenced by Era 1 and Era 3. Era 1’s main focus is on the body and addresses the health and healing of humans based on bodily functions and how they can be treated. Era 3 takes a more holistic approach by incorporating the body, mind and spirit. This includes Watson’s theory of human caring which discusses “human caring consciousness, administering ‘human care essentials’, which potentiate alignment of mind body spirit...
