Professional Organization: The Tech Republic By: Mike Vignapiano Foundations for General Education and Professional Success/GEN-200 18 February 2010 Prof. Jack Rivituso

The professional organizations I am interested in (and belong to) are many. I am a member in ‘good standing’ with The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Network Professional Association (NPA), Independent Computer Consultants Association (ICCA). However, my favorite organization is Tech Republic Tech Republic is a free website dedicated to issues in the world of the Information Technology (IT). It is owned by CBS Interactive and marketed alongside BNet and ZDNet (formerly ZiffNet). Once a person becomes a registered member on this site, it will allow them to receive several e-newsletters, download certain ‘White Papers’ (authoritative report or guide that often addresses issues and how to solve them), and post comments on the site. Tech Republic provides up-to-date, relevant information for those people in the IT Field. Besides the White Papers, it also provides the member with Newsletters, Blogs, Downloads, Forums, Photos, Videos, Webcasts, Software, and Training. Most of these items are all free. However, there are some items that may need to be purchase (at reduced rates) and can do so at their online Store, for necessary, or nice-to-have items that the IT Technician may desire. Tech Republic helps provides the IT pro with the knowledge and abilities that directly affect his or her career. It provides the most current and up-to-date information on today’s technology, allowing professionals the ability to stay out in front of the curve compared to others in the field, thus enhancing job security. Tech Republic does this by providing the IT Pro with hundreds of FREE downloads. Some of these downloads may be nice-to-know. However, most of the downloads are important to know, whereas others can even be imperative to an IT career, such as:
10 free Microsoft programs worth checking out
10 ways to detect computer malware
10 phrases that can change your career
10 cool things you can do with a USB flash drive
Network, PC, and server audit checklist

In Tech Republic’s White Papers archive, people will find useful and essential information such as:
Things to Know When Troubleshooting Your Network
Router Essentials
TCP/IP Troubleshooting
Switching Essentials
IP Addressing and Subnetting for New Users
10 Ways Hackers Breach Security and
Network Fundamentals In the BLOG section that is available. Staff and other members provide ideas and information that may be critical to finding and possibly keeping your job or keeping your clients. Ideas and information such as:
10 tech tasks you should be able to do in your sleep
10 things you shouldn't do when working with an upset customer
Quickly edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP.
Tech Republic also informs the IT professional some nice tricks such as how to customize the Windows XP's General Tab so your contact information is always in front of your client's.

I have used and will continue to use this site far and above most other sites relative to the IT field. The information is not only accurate and precise, but also readily available. The folks that post on this site must be staff, or members who have had their contact information confirmed and verified by Tech Republic. This allows Tech Republic easier monitoring and keeps erroneous and fraudulent information to a minimum.
But the best thing about belonging to this site is that it not only allows networking with other IT Professionals, but also did I mention that it was FREE!

Globalization of the world economy as multidimensional process manifests itself in substantially all major aspects of modern economic life. The world is getting united through globalization. This is happening because of the technological advancements in the recent decades and the global organizations that made trading and capital movements easier. Regulations from various countries supported free trade, which made the countries more integrated with each other. Various entities were created to facilitate the trade between countries and to reach a more global economy (World Trade Organization, International Monetary Funds, The World Bank, European Union…). Efforts were made to get the financial markets integrated between each other as we have indexes for the whole world such as BBC Global 30, S&P global 100 … etc. and indexes for the European union like FTSE Euro 100, FTSE Euro Top 100… etc. The independence allowed Kazakhstan to establish economic relations with many developed and developing countries, to rebuild relationships with former partners and to advance on the path of integration into the world market. The liberalization of foreign economic activities has eliminated...

Fdi Attraction of Costa Rica

...Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC NGOẠI THƯƠNG COSTA RICA A brief study on public FDI facilitation by means of trade agreements and trade liberalization Nguyen Phuong Khanh Tung Student ID: 0951040062 ------------------------------ Costa Rica: A brief study on public FDI facilitation by means of trade agreements and future political adjustments. Abstract Being probably the most economically-advanced countries within the region of Central America, Costa Rica is a very interesting example of a how a developing country would manage and regulate its economic growth and stability, much thanks to its unique regime to attract and allocate FDI efficiently. Despite having little natural endowments and regional advantages, Costa Rica has ever since been the economic vanguard among the Latin America community for the last past half decade, with remarkable level of development within knowledge-intensive industries. Furthermore, the country’s early acceptance and adoption of various trade liberalization schemes have created a destination that a number of economists have been referring as ‘investment haven’ for exported products and services. The case of Costa Rica, henceforth, is exemplary for developing countries, not only in regard to attracting pure FDI, but also supervising its spillover effects as a means to stimulate the economy. This paper does not quantify in detail the effects, but rather focuses on a sweeping analysis on Costa Rica’s political historical...

...against his/her own organization, and is mostly employed in an executive,3 finance, operations or sales/ marketing function. He/she holds a senior management position, was employed in the organization in excess of six years and, in committing the fraud, frequently acted in concert with others. Other findings, however, are different. This time, we have developed a series of themes in order to understand the changing relationship among the fraudster, his/ her environment and the frauds committed. And after taking into account the insights of our investigation leaders around the world, we conclude that the type of fraud and the type of fraudster are continually changing. “The intriguing thing about fraud is that it is always morphing, like a strain of flu; you can cure today’s strain, but next year it evolves into something as bad if not worse, ” says Phil Ostwalt, Global Coordinator for Investigations for the Global Forensic practice at KPMG. One major change is the growing use of technology by fraudsters, and not just in the technologically advanced countries, such as the US “a concern for all business is that we are about to see a new generation of people, able to use more technology and with access to much more information than past generations. All of which points to a new era for fraud and illegal activities, ” says Arturo del Castillo, Managing Director of Forensic, KPMG in Colombia. We believe that understanding this fluidity will enable organizations to protect themselves...

Abstract This paper analyses the implications of differing global demographic trends for India’s competitiveness in outsourcing and offshoring. It also briefly notes the implications of differing demographic trends among the Indian states. India has used the labor cost advantage to gain reasonable market share in these activities. Globalization is the result of technological processes occurring mainly in the areas of information technology, telecommunications, energy, transport, and biotechnology as well as a shift in economic policies. In this chapter a number of international organizations, such as the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank were presented and their role in terms of globalization and economic integration issues described. Integration of Mis in Commercial Banks of Butembo

...However, the banks do share real-time information among branches and the head office. Introduction The history of Management Information System (MIS) starts since long. In 1968, Michael S. Scott Morton wrote a research paper in which he emphasizes the use and emergence of MIS in future. He emphasizes that the future companies will be affected by two things technology and the human comprehension and understanding of decision-making process. According to Morton (1968), it is not only about the emerging of new technologies rather how man will use the information from technology to make decisions. He predicted that in future organizational decisions will be influenced by technology and success of the business organization will depend on how well mangers integrate technology in decision-making. Frenzel (1992 p.130) argues, that the innovation of semi-conductor in 1942 was the foundation of the emergence of information technology. In today’s changing world, managers need information to manage their work. As the world is becoming global, the...
