Promising Manager that Won’t Get Out of His Own Way

Situation Analysis:
Based on the reading, Alex Sander appears on one hand to be a driven and energetic manager. He appears to be the kind of employee that upper management would want to have in place for results oriented progress.
Strengths and weaknesses (combined as these traits can be good or bad depending on the environment and situation) * Alex is a focused individual * Not afraid to take larger than normal risks for the result of a bigger payout/success for himself and the company. * Committed to doing whatever is needed to succeed in the task. * Very self-confident * Has the ability to multitask and to ensure that the project is on task and will be completed within the allotted time frame if not earlier.
Unfortunately, not all is good about having Alex as the product manager. There are opportunities for success within the team and relative teams but the abruptness with which Alex directs and communicates can be felt throughout the material. Even his immediate supervisor has reservations about him in the position.
Opportunities and threats * Team is willing to assist him in the product rollout * Alex has no work life balance * Arrogance is interfering with how the team responds to him and feels about their role and position on the team. * Lack of people skills shows the inability for him to motivate and guide his team; he is taking on projects and assignments out of frustration over not being able to get what he wants and needs out of his direct reports and other teams.
