In Venezuela there are no dual courts. All the courts are federal system since the 1945’s. The judiciary had not implemented as much impact as the executive or legislative branch. The courts in Venezuela does not have equal share with the executive. The Venezuelan brand of federalism does not provide for state courts. The law is perceived as the same, unitary, throughout the national territory (Country studies).
The Venezuelan prison system, which consisted of twenty-five institutions (Data, 1990) that has suffered from both understaffing and overcrowding. Not only had that but the prison had graft and corruption. During the 1980’s crimes in Venezuela had increased and the prison had become more congested. There were a total of twenty five prisons throughout Venezuela which consist of 17 judicial detainment centers, 7 nation jails and penitentiaries, 1 national institute of female orientation (Data, 1990).
The correction officers or civilian workers were personnel of Ministry of Justice. All the guards on the external of the prison were personnel of the nation guard. The rehabilitation that the convicted criminal would get before being released came to a halt due to the overcrowding of the prison. The prison overcrowding also lead to corruption, homosexuality and drug abuse in the Venezuelan prisons.

Proseminar in Criminal Justice

...The three components to the criminal justice system are the police, courts, and corrections (Schmalleger, 2011). When you begin to apply these components to television shows and movies you being to see how much is really put into each section. When I watched the television show CSI in the episode titled “Altered Stakes”, I saw how the police and corrections sides both worked. In this episode there was a prisoner who was committed of a crime he claimed he didn’t commit. The police officer that was involved got him to confess to the crime, but later was found to be a “bad cop”. The prisoner used this to his advantage and then there was another investigation put into play to prove him to be guilty of a crime that was committed using other evidence. This episode also showed a little bit of the courts. The prisoner was going to be allowed by the courts to be released because of the allegations against the police officer that beat a confession out of him. Because there was police brutality the courts had to throw out the ruling unless there was other evidence to prove he was guilty. Another television show that shows the police, courts, and corrections portion is Law & Order on NBC. This show goes into great detail of the crime that was committed and what the officers must do step by step to figure out who the killer or person that committed the crime is and the evidence in which to prove them guilty in the courts. The courts portion of it shows the person getting convicted the...

Has your child been arrested before? If your answer is yes, when and why? Assuming that the minor is a first offender we can try to minimize the sentence, and we can make sure that your child will be tried as a juvenile and not an adult. In this case any charges can be cleared (sponged) for his/her record at the age of 18 (American Civil Liberties Union Juvenile Justice). We also need you to understand that the minor is facing some serious charges, usually the sentences for something like this are 6 years in prison and or 200 hours of community...

...Student Name: Alfonzso Daggett Professor: Grace Telesco Course: Proseminar in Criminal Justice (CRJS300-1501-AVNVA) Date: January 21, 2015 There are three main components of the criminal justice system. The three components are Polices, Courts, and the Correctional Agencies. All three components are well defined by the American Criminal Justice System. I will give the three primary function of the justice system and also two examples of each one of them will be explained. The main goal of the criminal justice system is to enforce the laws, maintain public order and protect individuals from injustice, and even from the hands of the criminal justice system. The governing officials are polices that are in charge of regulating and implementing laws within the communities, they are charged with regulating laws, control, and keeping order with all of the power invested in them. The police are to enforce the laws, investigate all crimes that are committed, arrest criminals, maintain peace and order reduce crimes and also prevent crime, and most of all ensuring the communities safety. The Television shows Cops and the movie Bad Boys are two examples of policing. Cops are a show that displays real life like examples of crimes that are being committed in our society every day. Cops are a positive image displayed by police agencies across the world. It tells how the offender or offenders commit the crime or crimes and how they...

Crjs300 Theory and Practice in Courts

...Unit 3: Theory and Practice in Courts Stacey Pedroza CRJS300-1203A-04: Proseminar in Criminal Justice Professor Samantha Carlo AIU Online University June 24, 2012 Theory and Practice in Courts In reviewing the court system of the United States there is a definite hierarchy between the trial courts, appellate courts and the supreme courts of both the state and federal levels. However, the actions of the court systems move at such a slow and hindered pace because of the bureaucracy of motions and objections among many others. The following is a review of the type of court system the United States has and why. Along with judges sentencing goals and philosophy; and sentencing innovations. Dual Court System The United States has a dual court system, comprised of the State Courts and the Federal Court Systems. Within both the State and Federal court systems there are several levels of jurisdictions. The state courts have trial courts where there is specific jurisdiction and courts of general jurisdiction, then the appellate courts and finally the state supreme court. The federal court system is similar to the state courts in that there are trial courts, courts of appeals and finally the highest court in the nation is the Supreme Court of the United States. Another piece of the federal court system is the Military trial courts, the Military appellate courts and then they will also report to the Supreme Court of the United States. Why does the U.S. have a Dual...

...Running head: USING/OR NOT USING A CELEBRITY TO PROMOTE THE Using/or Not Using a Celebrity to Promote the Product Ben Williams Jr. Grantham University Abstract It is a well-known fact that many companies spend huge amount of money to get their products endorsed by prominent public figures (celebrities). But why do companies use celebrities for endorsing their products? In today's world of fiercely competitive and highly fragmented market, every company tries to maximize the share of its target market segment to optimize its profit. To achieve this goal, companies try a combination (or mix) of various marketing tools and techniques as their marketing strategy. Advertising is one of the important components of the communication mix through which companies convey their offerings to present and potential customers and general public as well. Using/or Not Using a Celebrity to Promote the Product The practice of using celebrity endorsement of a product by advertisement agencies to increase a product’s sales is rampant in almost every society in the world. It seems like every commercial has some celebrity confessing how a medication saved his life, or how she could not live without a certain type of shampoo. Advertisers have coined this practice as the source attractiveness model, which according to H.C. Kelman is that how a celebrity looks, “affects the effectiveness of persuasive communication through identification, which occurs when information from an attractive source...

Introduction In my term paper I want to discuss if the nature phenomenons in the short story “A Lamp at Noon” written by Sinclair Ross (1908-1996) have such a loom large that they can be seen as a protagonist. During my research I found the statement: (D)ie enge Verbindung von Mensch und natürlicher Umwelt, welche in ihren extremen klimatischen Verhältnissen [...] immer wieder übermächtig und indifferent grausam gegenüber den ums […] Überleben kämpfende Farmersleuten, ja beinahe als >Protagonist< erscheint. (Gross 158) I found that point of view very interessting and that is way I will discuss this theses. A protagonist is “the main character in a play, film/movie or book [...]” (Wehmeier) Even though the nature phenomenons can’t be the protagonist as such because they are not represented by a character, they have an important situation in the short story. Obvious is that the...

Rh Incompatibility Disease

...“Rhesus (RH) Incompatibility Disease” Sharon C. Clatterbuck Ottawa University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Proseminar Class Dr. Richard Kimberly. November 9, 2004 All the technology of our medical institutions and doctors do no good unless each female who becomes pregnant takes advantage of the prenatal care that is offered to them. According to the article titled “Routine ABO and RH Typing: An Introduction”, Phillip Levine and R.E. Stetson were the first scientists to discover the rhesus blood groups in 1939. Soon after their amazing discovery, Karl Landsteiner and A.S. Weiner discovered the ABO blood typing system in the late 1940’s, which ultimately lead to discovery of the Rh differences. Several medical studies and journals have concluded that the father is the basis of all fetal blood typing. The problem arises when the father’s blood type is positive and the mother’s blood type is negative, thus causes a condition called Rhesus (RH) Incompatibility or the RH Incompatibility Disease. (Mark-Maris) Women who receive proper treatment and testing during their first prenatal visit and subsequent visits can avoid most complications in their pregnancy, including the Rhesus Incompatibility. John M Bowman of the Canadian Medical Association states “the condition was first described as a medical problem in pregnancies in 1609, during the birth of a set of twins by a French midwife. The first twin had a severe case of Rh Incompatibility...

Short Messages Service

...SMS Text Analysis: Language, Gender and Current Practices Muhammad Shaban Rafi1 Abstract This article tests the assumption that SMS language is like a pidgin in every speech community. The article also examines the assumption that a great motor of SMS lives among females whose lexical and morpho-syntactic choices are different from males. It further speculates influence of SMS language on language of media. One hundred messages were taken randomly from 20 cell phones and perceptions of 25 males and 25 females were recorded on an ordinal scale for analysis. The text was analyzed to look into lexicology, morphology and syntactic levels of texters, and influence of SMS on language of commercials. The results show that a novice intelligible language has evolved through SMS, which is influencing language of media. A significant difference is found between male and female texters’ linguistic properties. Introduction Short Message Service (SMS) language tends to create a novice language, which has become an integral part of the multilingual world. It pursues simple sentences structure for communication. It is assumed that SMS syntactic and lexical choices by the texters are not so different from a child language. A child expresses his feelings through simple present progressive tense e.g. mom eating for ‘Mom is eating’ and Eating for ‘I am eating’. The empirical data show that SMS language over-looks orthographic and syntactic rules of a language with a great emphasis...

Send me an email with 2-3 times you are available. Course Overview HDFS 865 Family Theories is a survey course that examines the interdisciplinary study of families. The course content is organized into two sections: a) theories, ideologies and definitions of families and b) applications of family theories in practice, family programs, and policies. This course will examine “what is theorizing in family studies?” Family theories are explanatory frameworks for different ways of understanding families. Theorizing about families involves conceptualizing the lived experiences of people in relation to their own families as well as developing explanations of the social role of families in society, tracking demographic changes over time, and identifying ideologies and social forces that influence and are influenced by family life. Some theories look at how individuals develop over the life span in the context of families; others define the forms and functions of families as a social unit in society. Some look at “the family” as a unit and focus in on the internal dynamics of relationships between family members, while others look at “the family” as a subsystem or institution in the larger scope of...

Born 1933 in London’s poor East End as Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, he started acting in the late 1940s and soon became Michael Caine. Though he changed his name he never tried to hide his past and his Cockney accent gives away his working class origin. It was a hard and long journey to fame for Caine. His first steps into show business were acting with amateur groups, then playing some parts in provincial theatres and later some appearances on British television. It was only after more than 20 years that he got the audiences’ and critics’ attention for his role in Zulu. But it brought him rather critical notice than the hoped for éclat. In 1967 Caine’s career got a considerable boost when he was representing the main character in Alfie - a role that seemed...
