Public Administrators, as citizens, play an integral role in a democratic political community. In order to maintain a democracy, things must be done in a manner that is by the people, for the people. Public Administrators must have a genuine concern for the citizens whom they serve. Society depends on the proper functioning of and administrative oversight for almost everything in their daily lives and must rely upon others to care enough to represent them fully. For instance, society depends on the FDA makes sure our food is safe; the EPA keeps our environment safe; public services; our roads, utilities, mail, etc. are all under some form of government. Another significant aspect of public administration for society is having proper representation with safeguards and protection against corruption, and blatant abuses of power. Representation should be inclusive of the members of the community that …show more content…
Homeowners who have lived in my community for many years have expressed that they have experienced a decline in the city’s management and have also expressed disappointment that public officials have not addressed the lack of healthy food access issues in the community. Additionally, they are of the belief that the people with the resources and influence are obviously not the people who live and work in the community. Social equity (access to services, facilities and opportunities) and sustainability of the community are overarching concepts that we are currently dealing with. A major question is, how do the citizens of our community get the city bureaucrats to use their influence in the creation of a positive city image and atmosphere for business and industry in the city, to bring a major grocery store to the city, save property values and maintain the character of the

Genocide and Public Administrators

...Genocide is a horrible and inhumane method of controlling a population by eliminating the chosen population. It has been going on for centuries and in the last two has been directly addressed with laws and rules. These international laws call for harsh punishments for governments and groups who practice genocide. Genocide is the destruction of, harm to, or physical elimination of a population. A good example is the killing of all members of the Tutsi tribe within Rwanda by the Hutu tribe. The Holocaust is perhaps the most well-known and horrendous use of genocide. The issues for most public administrators/politicians/leaders comes in the form of moral values being weighed against the needs of public they administer for. While human rights are certainly part of most people’s value system, how to stop such acts as genocide or when is not as fully developed. On top of these moral and political capital considerations, are the needs of those who become refugees, where the refugees are harbored, and how this affects the surrounding countries or regions. Genocide is horrific and so are the conditions that refugees face when fleeing. Often they are left to starve, with limited food and shelter. The governments that end up housing refugees find their resources strained further. These countries have to provide not only a place for the refugees, but allow humanitarian aid, supply food and shelter, handle security within and externally for the refugees. Resources like water...

Zenmap is for any network or security administrator who needs to keep a constant check on their network topology. With it’s next-to-zero learning curve, just about any network administrator can have all of the information they need quickly. Zenmap will work for any size company or even a single-user consultancy, where a quick scan of a network topology can make the difference between spotting a security issue and finding a resolution or, well…not. What problem does it solve? There are two very key issues Zenmap solves. One is making the more-challenging Nmap scanner useable for the average administrator. Nmap is a console-only tool and the majority of administrators do not want to spend their day at the console (with a nod to the old-school Linux and UNIX admins who would much rather spend their day at the command line than in a GUI tool). Zenmap also gives the administrator a topology mapping tool where they can actually see an interactive, animated visualization of the hosts on your network. Key features * Free * Easy-to-use GUI * Quickly saves scans * Uses traceroute and ping * Saves profiles for frequent run tests * Topology mapping * Compares scan results of different scans * Runs multiple scans and views them as one big scan * Plenty of default scan profiles to choose from * Searches scan results...
