This panel was about the Puvi Patel case that I didn’t know about until attending this panel. I learned that the Purvi Patel case was about an Asian woman that is being sentenced 20 years on charges of feticide and neglect. I made the statement about her being Asian to bring of up the fact there may have been some racism involved here that one of the panel speakers mentioned. I learned that Puvi Patel was charged with neglect when she didn’t meet the 5 requirements for it to be considered neglect, and the feticide charge was created to protect women that were pregnant not to use on pregnant women. I found it interesting that the only thing they had evidence for was her trying to get an abortion that wasn’t medically done, which they didn’t
