QNT/351 Quantitative Analysis for Business

When explain the central tendency and how it relates to this survey. The measures of central tendency are the set of measurements–that is, the tendency of the data to cluster, or center, about certain numerical values. Also central tendency contains three different parts. When calculating the central tendency, you have to calculate the mean, which is the most common measure of central tendency, acts as a balance point, and is affected by extreme values (outliers). The mean is calculated by taking raw data (a group of numbers), adding them up for a total, and then dividing that total by amount of numbers within the group ( ex: raw data: 3,4,5. 3+4+5=12, then 12/3= 4. The mean equals four). The median, which is the middle value in ordered sequence (If this value is odd, middle value of sequence If this value is even, average of 2 middle values), is not affected by extreme values, position of median in sequence, and the positioning point = n+1/2. The median is calculated by taking the raw data and putting it in ascending order, with the middle number being the mean (odd ex: raw data: 1,5,3,2,4,= ordered: 1,2,3,4,5= position point= 3 median= 3) (even ex: raw data: 6,3,1,4,2,5, Ordered: 1,2,3,4,5,6, position point= 3.5 median= 3.5). And finally, calculate the mode, which is the value that occurs most often (repeated values with the same data group) (ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5), is not affected by extreme values, may have no mode or several modes, and may be used for quantitative or qualitative data. In the case of this survey these values are calculated and displayed in the output section of the attached excel spread sheet.
The variables we are working with Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc., Part 1, Exhibit B the survey A data set. It is comprised of question from 1 through 10 with 78 participants and 4 categories (A) is do they agree, or disagree, or no opinion, category (B) represents the number of years broken down into months. Category (C) represents the gender male, or female, Category (D) represents yes, or no in regards to the questions ask.
Nominal level is data that is classified into categories and cannot be arranged in any particular order. Ordinal level – data arranged in some order, but the differences between data values cannot be determined or are meaningless. Interval level is similar to the ordinal level with the additional property that meaningful amounts of differences between data values can be determined. There is no natural zero point. Ratio level - the interval level with an inherent zero starting point. Differences and ratios are meaningful for this level of measurement. According to the data that’s been collected and the fact that this particular set of data is nominal. The standard deviation method cannot be used the data would need to be arranged in some order to be able to come up with the difference. This table tells team C that seventy-eight (78) employees were given the survey. Out of the seventy-eight surveyed there were twenty-eight (28) females and forty-eight (48) males. Subsequently, two employees did not specify his or her gender. In this survey there were sixty-four (64) supervisors that took the survey and twelve (12) managers who took part in the survey. Two employees did not specify if they were a supervisor or manager. It appears that everyone who took the survey was definitely employed by BIMS over a year. The BIMS Employee Survey is using a scale of 1 out of 5 to record the answering of the questions where five is a very positive response and one is very negative choice. There are 10 questions that the employees will have to answer. The result of the survey shows that large amount of employees dislike working for the company. The organization need to work on treating the employee better and make sure that the working condition is more comparable with the employees.
Another way to increase employee morale is to make the employee feel as if the company appreciate them working for them. BIMS needs to value their employees for without them, the company would not exist. Having employees feel appreciated and wanted will make them want to work harder because the employee now knows that the company feels good about them working for them. The survey given by BIMS to find out more about employee morale is also a great start to boosting the morale as long as the employee is able to see changes that directly relate to the survey they were given.
For example, if the complaint was that there is no suitable area to take a break at and a few months later the company presented a brand new break area, employees would feel as if the company values their opinions and cares about making their work environment comfortable for the employee. One final thing that can be done to boost company morale is to open up communication between management and their subordinates. Employees should feel as if they can voice their concerns and opinions to management without judgment or consequence and should also feel like management is concerned with their opinions. If employees are comfortable to share their concerns with management, the company may be able to act in time to prevent employee morale from dropping by addressing the concerns of the employees.
