...Zijin Wei Southwest Airlines 2011 As one of the biggest airline companies in U.S, Southwest was successful in its low-cost operation model and the strategic development. However, the company’s future threats may also come from its strengths, also combined with its internal and external development. First, the signing of Airline Deregulation Act in 1978 made many other emerging carriers enter the industry. More competitors occupied the market to make benefits and attract performances by providing lower priced tickets than Southwest did to the customers, which increase the competition pressure to the company’s future development. Second, Southwest’s operating costs have been rising in recent years, especially on its employee salaries, the company has to provide higher salary for talents employment and higher cost for superior operating services, although the company keeps the low-priced ticket selling strategy, thus put the company in the dilemma between the low-profit status quo and the high-cost operating requirement. Third, the rising service demand from the customers makes it challenged for Southwest to follow their steps because Southwest takes the operational strategy of single airline model, which cannot satisfy the customers’ various flight demands as well as the upper service quality. The customer may look for better services from other airlines so that shrink the company’s performances. Generally, I feel optimistic to the Southwest’s future development. The reasons are...

Study Guide

...Final Exam Study Guide Important to Know the function of anterior and posterior pituitary gland. Anterior Pituitary Gland: (Adenohypophysis) The anterior pituitary gland regulates several physiological processes including stress, growth, reproduction and lactation (Adrenal, liver, bone, thryroid and gonads). -It is regulated by negative feedback and the hypothalamus. Major hormones: ACTH: Stimulates the adrenal cortex. TSH: Thyroid stimulating hormone, promotes secretion of thyroid hormone. FSH: Follicle-stimulating hormone, promotes growth of reproductive system. LH: Luteinizing hormone. Promotes sex hormone production GH: Growth hormone, promotes growth, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. PRL: Prolactin, Milk production and progesterone/estrogen. -Hormones are secreted from the hypothalamus to the A. Pituitary so these hormones can be released. Posterior Pituitary Gland: Mainly axons extended from the hypothalamus. These axons contain and release neurohypophysial hormones oxytocin and vasopressin. Oxytocin: Targets the uterus, and mammary glands causing contractions and lactation. Vasopressin (ADH): Antidiuretic hormone, arginine vasopressin, argipressin. Stimulates water retention absorbs it back into blood causing raises blood pressure by contracting arterioles, and inducing male aggression. Very Important to know and understand Diabetic Ketoacidosis Pathophysiology: -In DKA, the lack of insulin prevents glucose from being utilized by the tissues...

...QQQQQ & AAAAA QQQQQ & AAAAA …However, here’s a big turning point at the line “soul is spurting out upon them, bleeding on them, messing up their clothes” blah blah, it’s showing that her sickness sometimes could have hurt her dear friends and she felt so bad and she hated it. Q: Excuse me for the interruption. Then what about the one saying “God is filling me” and the last sentence “a monster of sorts, takes it all in-- all in comes the fury of love”? E: YES! That’s it. She was feeling death coming closer to her, she wanted to accept the fact. And she had her own belief in God so she wished her big heart could have taken all the pain and lost, to accept all the sadness and pressure, either for living or dying. But it was still hard, since she emphasized “I promised it is very large, a monster of sorts”. She was describing it as a monster, a tired, mindless monster that just want to eat all the pressure but it seemed like her heart was still not big enough. She was having too much suffering. Q: Thank you for your time! E: No problem my heart is big enough (laughing) I just want to mention, don’t ignore the valuable little things in your life. Some day they all come together and that can be a very powerful spirits that help you get through a hard time. So you can have a heart that’s big enough for all the pressure we face in life. Life Is Funny

...Justin Merriweather September 25, 2013 Reader Response Journal Life is Funny by E.R Frank 1. There were parts of the book that made me laugh, sad, and have much sympathy for the characters. One encounter is when PPPPPP parents were fighting and PPPPPP dad would beat on his mother. She didn’t any one to know that her husband was beating her. PPPPPP is always around when she is getting beaten by his dad. He tells his dad to stop, but he doesn’t listen until PPPPP calls the police one day to get rid of his dad. Another incident is when QQQQQ is raped by her dad as a little girl. On weekends she would go over her dads and she would come home crying and sick, because of what he did to her. Her mother never really listened to her, instead she was to busy counting her marbles and working, so her older sister had to tend to her needs and watch over her when she could, and keep up with chores. QQQQQQQ ends up getting pregant at 16 and WWWWW, her sister who is in college, tries to help take care of her along with QQQ new boyfriend, EEEEEE. One more time was with a young Indian girl who had trouble following the rules of her religion. She had made friends with the next door neighbor, GGGGG, who was 22221 years old and she being 33333. She isn’t supposed to be talking to him because he is not a boy in the family. He eventually commits suicide and she thinks it’s all her fault when it isn’t. She can’t talk to anyone about it because she wasn’t suppose to talk to him in the first...

Data Mining with R

...Data Mining with R: learning by case studies Luis Torgo LIACC-FEP, University of Porto R. Campo Alegre, 823 - 4150 Porto, Portugal email: ltorgo@liacc.up.pt http://www.liacc.up.pt/∼ltorgo May 22, 2003 Preface The main goal of this book is to introduce the reader to the use of R as a tool for performing data mining. R is a freely downloadable1 language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. Its capabilities and the large set of available packages make this tool an excellent alternative to the existing (and expensive!) data mining tools. One of the key issues in data mining is size. A typical data mining problem involves a large database from where one seeks to extract useful knowledge. In this book we will use MySQL as the core database management system. MySQL is also freely available2 for several computer platforms. This means that you will be able to perform “serious” data mining without having to pay any money at all. Moreover, we hope to show you that this comes with no compromise in the quality of the obtained solutions. Expensive tools do not necessarily mean better tools! R together with MySQL form a pair very hard to beat as long as you are willing to spend some time learning how to use them. We think that it is worthwhile, and we hope that you are convinced as well at the end of reading this book. The goal of this book is not to describe all facets of data mining processes. Many books exist that cover this area. Instead we propose to introduce...
