Isetann

... Isetann is the revived version of 'Joymart' which as a smaller local supermarket chain, could not benefit much from economies of scale. Hence, 'Joymart' was renamed 'Isetann' and transformed into its modern large-scale retailer form, with bright signature colors of orange and green. The first Isetann Mall, Isetann Cinerama Recto, was opened in 1988 located at the site of the former Roman Super Cinerama which was burned down in the late 1970s. It primarily specializes in international and local movie screenings. The largest of the four branches, the Recto mall attracts shopping traffic because of its location beside the LRT Train station in the office district of Manila. During the rest of the 80s, it expanded the business in Cubao, Quezon City in 1985, and Recto, Manila in 1988 to become a fully functioning department store and supermarket. In Sta. Mesa, Manila, a wholesale store outlet was developed in 1989. Isetann is known for its marketing promotions, such as celebrity events, cooking competitions, hip-hop dance contests, and summer body contests. Celebrities who have appeared in Isetann include Marian Rivera, Xian Lim, Giamateo Guidicelli, Sam Milby, and other well known local Filipino actors or singers. The Life After Manuel L. Quezon

...were Lucio Quezón and María Dolores Molina. His father was a primary grade school teacher from Paco, Manila and a retired Sergeant of the Spanish colonial army, while his mother was a primary grade school teacher in their hometown.Although both his parents must have contributed to his education, he received most of his primary education from the public school established by the Spanish government in his village, as part of the establishment of the free public education system in the Philippines, as he himself testified during his speech delivered in the House of Representatives of the United States during the discussion of Jones Bill, in 1914. ] He later boarded at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran where he completed secondary school. In 1898, his father Lucio and his brother Pedro were ambushed and killed by armed men while on their way home to Baler from Nueva Ecija. Some historians believe they were murdered by bandits who also robbed their money, while others believe the killings could have been related to their loyalty to the Spanish government. In 1899, Quezón cut short his law studies at the University of Santo Tomás in Manila to participate in the struggle for independence against the United States, led by Emilio Aguinaldo. During the Philippine-American War he was an ayuda-de-campo to Emilio Aguinaldo. He rose to the rank of Major and fought in the Bataan sector. However, after surrendering in 1900 wherein he made his first break in the American press Quezón returned to...

...Immaculate Conception Cathedral A Roman Catholic cathedral located in Quezon City, Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is the see of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Cubao. It was built in 1950 by the Society of the Divine Word and belonged to the order until 1990 when the Archdiocese of Manila took over its administration. In 2003, it became the cathedral when the Diocese of Cubao was erected. The present rector of the cathedral is Rev. Fr. Ariston L. Sison, Jr., SCSL History Since 1935, the SVD priests of Christ the King Mission Seminary attended to the pastoral and spiritual needs of a limited farming community around Manga Road in Cubao by first celebrating mass in a small chapel near the present Cubao roundabout. Fr. Henry Demond, SVD then celebrated Mass in the residence of a certain Carbonell family, before to a quonset mess hall on what are now Spence and Brooklyn streets. The building was abandoned by the combined US-Philippine Commonwealth Armed Forces. As with other agrarian communities, farmers tilling the surrounding rice paddies invoked San Isidro Labrador, so the chapel built there was dedicated to him and belonged to Sacred Heart Parish in Kamuníng. While teaching as theology professor at Christ the King Mission Seminary (and later as Prefect of Scholastics), Fr. Ambrosio Manaligod and Ronnie Ganancias consistently lent a helping hand to the pastoral work of the parish especially in the direction of lay organisations. In 1949, the chapel was re-dedicated to the...
