RODDY RODESKI is a Private Investigator haunted by the kidnaping of his younger sister ANNA nearly two decades ago. He blames himself for her disappearance and as such keeps people at a distance for fear of letting them down. The closest thing he has to a friend is his partner, the obnoxious womanizer PETER HOWE, but the two are not close. Roddy’s Father—Rodion Sr.—is a former police detective who has spent the better part of the past 20 year searching for his missing daughter. Roddy and his father have a strained relationship. Rodion blames Roddy for Anna’s disappearance and Roddy resents the amount of time Rodion has spent looking for Anna rather than fixing their relationship.

There relationship has grown more intimate. He tells her about the Mayor and his ramblings about “The Squid”. Dunya’s deportment changes. She knows who the squid. She takes Roddy to his house. An old Cadillac is parked out front. Roddy remembers it as the car that took Anna away. Dunya waits in the car as Roddy enters the dilapidated house. Inside it covered in trash and infested with cats. Roddy find The Squid, an aged, burnt out, heroin addict, nodding out on the couch. He wakes him and confronts him about Anna. The Squid become restive and grabs for a gun. Bam! Bullets whiz past Roddy’s head. He ducks behind a wall. Roddy pulls his own gun and returns fire. The shoot out continues until Roddy gets the best of the Squid and kills him. Returning back to the car Dunya is gone. The sound of police sirens draws near. Roddy searches for Dunya and finds her is the cellar behind the house. The place is covered in skeletal remains. One in particular draws Roddy attention. The bones of a child, wearing a summer floral summer dress, just like Anna was when she went missing. Dunya excuses herself and flees before the cops
