1. How is a charter school treated under IDEA? Each charter school in the United States under IDEA depend on how the school is operated. All charter schools are responsible to serve educational programs to all of their students especially those with exceptional needs.

2. What is the LRE for a student with SLD? With Autism Spectrum Disorder, or EBD? There are several options of Least Restrictive Environments for students with Specific/Significant Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Emotional Behavior Disorders. After I watching the video of the Discrepancy Model and read the PowerPoint slide, I was completely surprised to hear that students are not diagnosed with a learning disability until they reach the third grade. When I was growing up, I was told by my mother that I was diagnosed with a learning disability when I was between five and six years of age when I was in kindergarten. As I watched the video on Differentiated Instruction Strategies, I have learned more about Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory. I am currently learning about them in my Educational Psychology class. In one of the clips, I noticed that the teacher has written an agenda so her students will keep track on what they are doing and wrote discussion questions about the strategies from the previous day's math contest. All of her students were being honest with her about what had happened the day before. The students also used mathematical and logical reasoning in their …show more content…
In “What is a Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS)?”, Colleen Riley explains that MTSS is a “building supports in place that benefits both students and educators.” Teachers should look at core instruction and additional interventions, provide professional development, produce data through process monitoring, etc. Riley also states that MTSS is used for every grade level.

6. In “Ensuring the Success of Students with Learning Disabilities”, Thomas Hehir talks a bit about dyslexia and how we can give students interventions. His statement “You shouldn't wait and let kids fail” has deeply affected me. This statement reminds me of what my mentor teacher told me before I met her at orientation. She told me that she will allow the students to try to figure out a problem on their own and then jump in if they begin to struggle.

7. In “The Relationship Between CCSS and MTSS”, Riley explains the Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are different from each other. She states that CCSS is “what teachers teach” while MTSS is “how the teachers teach.” Throughout the video, I thought that Riley was very encouraging because of her advice on how to be a great teacher. She claims that “teachers need to be willing to look at how you are truly going to educate and support all students” and they need to“provide additional professional development on how to use data,” which must “happen on an on-going collaborative basis.” Riley also states that “building
