ACO Ratio Analysis Paper

...needs to have at least 7 to 10 million dollars in working expense required by the Florida Department of Insurance (Volz), and that was 5 to 8 million dollars more than the start-up cost of ACOs. In addition, healthcare providers lose money due to high HMO’s start-up cost as well. A managing director of Simply Healthcare has stated that they have lost 3.2 million dollars in 2010 due to startup and acquisition costs, according to the South Florida Business Journal (Bandell). However, the startup costs only are the only first step to practice ACO model in the hospital. The technology management plays significant role in ACO operation too, according to the same data from the National ACO Survey (See chart 2). In addition, according to the analysis from Fierce HealthCare, CMS has estimated that healthcare providers should prepare extra 15 to 20 percent of the initial information technology (IT) costs for ongoing maintenance and 24 to 28 percent more of IT costs by American Hospital Association’s estimation. Saving is also important as the start-up cost in the healthcare system. While most Americans have been adapted to HMO's for the last decade, but there is no evidence can prove that the system has saved money for providers, according to the PNHP (physicians for a national health program). Therefore, the ACO is a new turning point for healthcare providers. Even though the startup costs and IT costs seems to be high in ACO’s plan, however, the survey conducted by the EHR Intelligence...

Term Paper - Ratio Analysis. Accou

...RSM1320 – Financial Accounting FINANCIAL ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES (RATIO ANALYSIS) KEY POINTS TO KNOW 1) Financial analysis is ultimately contextual and purpose-driven. In other words, there is always a reason why you are performing the analysis. You need to be clear about the objective of the analysis. 2) The tools and techniques that you use will depend on your purpose. As we discussed earlier, analyzing the company as an investment opportunity (which generally focuses on indicators of profitability of growth) is often different from analyzing the company from the perspective of a credit (lend or not) decision (which generally focuses on indicators of risk, liquidity, and solvency). 3) Financial analysis will seldom provide an “answer” to your objective or starting question (e.g. invest or not, lend or not). The usefulness of financial analysis is to provide valuable insights and additional questions to ask in arriving at a particular decision. Each individual ratio is a basic “indicator”, but it does not by itself provide an explanation of “why” something happened. To get the most value out of financial analysis, you need to understand how these ratios relate to one another and to the business model (and industry) of the company you are analyzing. This requires experience. 4) There is no single authoritative source providing rules about how particular ratios are calculated. While there are standards of practice (that we will follow), there is also significant...

Berry's Bug Busters Analysis

...While conducting a Vertical and Horizontal analysis of our financial statements along with my ratio calculations I have found that our company Berry’s Bug Busters did not do as well in some areas as in the previous 2007 year but the company is still in a really good position. As well as Berry’s Bug Busters is not relying on debt financing as much as it once did. Among the three ratios conducted Liquidity, Profitability, and Solvency the users who would be most interested in these would be a short term creditor, a long term creditor, and stock holders. The short term creditor an example would be a bank is interested in the liquidity ratio “The liquidity of the borrower is extremely important in evaluating the safety of a loan” (Weygandt, Kimmel, & Kieso, 2010, p. 676). According to Weygandt, Kimmel, and Kieso (2010), While long term creditors and short term creditors both have interest in profitability ratios and solvency ratios either to see the companies ability to survive over a long period of time or to see the likelihood of growth in stocks and dividends (p 676). Liquidity Ratios The Liquidity ratios reveal that the company paid off its liabilities better in this past year than in 2007 our current ratio went up by 2.42 from 2007 when it was 3.57 to 2008 where it was 5.99. Along with the current ratio the acid test ratio also went up by 2.31 from 2007 where it was 3.01 to 2008 which came to 5.32. Although we see a growth through these set of numbers our companies...
