Everything that he has worked for has been stripped away from him over one incident. If the video of Rice beating up Janay had never went viral Rice would still have a job. As CNN states, It cost Rice his job and his paycheck ---but not his wife.” If his own wife forgave him for the incident then why can’t we. Ray Rice Case Study

...Ray Rice is a running back for the Baltimore Ravens, he was drafted by them in 2008 as the 55th pick overall. Rice this season would have been going into his 7th season in the NFL as the best or one of the best running backs in the league, for sure top three, next to people like Matt Forte. Right now though he has been suspended indefinitely and was released by the Ravens due to a domestic violence charge that occurred between him and his wife who at the time was his fiancée. On February 15th Rice and then fiancée Palmer were both arrested in Atlantic City on simple assault charges after they had gotten into a fight at the Revel Casino. Then February 19th footage on behalf of TMZ had emerged showing Rice dragging palmer unconscious out of an elevator making the matter more serious to what they first had claimed to be a minor altercation. With all the public outcry going on regarding Rice the Baltimore Ravens organization supported the...

Ray Rice Ethical Analysis

...The article I am choosing to discuss for this weeks critical response is the one focused around Ray Rice and his indefinitely suspension. Most people are aware of the situation that happened between Ray Rice and his now wife that happened in the casino elevator but the events that happened after that incident is where the ethical and moral issues come into play. In the article it discusses how the Ravens supported Rice at first but then changed their mind after the video was released. From the article the Ravens said they heard a “softer” version of the events that happened in the elevator. I’m not sure how a story about an NFL player hitting his wife can be made into a “soft” version. I think that the Ravens had known all along of what...

Ray Rice: Prison Case Study

...In 2014 Ray Rice beats his fiancée. It happened in an elevator at a casino in Altaic City. His sponsorship was soon dropping him. He was being removed from video games, jerseys taking off the shelves. The owner of the ravens told rice that will defiantly be back. After the video of Rice knocking his wife out, the ravens terminated Ray Rice. Later that day on September 8th after he was terminated the NFL suspended Rice indefinite. Then, later on November 28th the NFL reinstated Ray Rice. Now in my opinion Ray Rice should be sitting in a prison cell. He really got away with beating his wife. He is still playing football. The courts dismiss his case on domestic violence. Then, reinstated him in the NFL. The fact that because he is a football star...

Model Organism

...Model Organisms Model organisms are very important to the scientific community. They are primarily used as a standard for comparison to other organisms. If a model organism is recognized then the organism can be useful for many different fields of research. Rice (Oryza sativa) is a model organism that has been introduced and has several essential attributes. When using a model organisms some qualities that should be chosen are a short life cycle, small adult size that makes it easy to grow in a small space, small genome that is well described genetically, high reproductive outcome, already have a large assembly of mutants, and be able to out cross or be self-fertile. When looking for a model organism consideration has to be taken into account for a few things too. Some of the benefits can become a hindrance. In 2010 a new model organism for studying C4 photosynthesis was suggested, a grass (Setaria viridis), by Brutnell et al. S. viridis is a C4 photosynthesis plant. Because of the C4 functions, it will be useful to aid in further research, with having its genome sequencing known, in comparison to other organisms that are not C4 plants. By having these qualities it makes it a good model organism. Some of these good attributes include its life cycle length. In short-day growth conditions it can be grown to full maturity in about six weeks. As an adult the plant is relatively short, less than 10 centimeters and takes up very little space about 50 plants can be grown in one...

Marketing Strategy of Basmati Rice in Tunisian Market

...Marketing Assignment. KOHINOOR BASMATI RICE MARKET ENTRY STRATEGY FOR TUNISIAN MARKET. Submitted By: Samik Sarkar MIB 2nd Semester. KOHINOOR BASMATI RICE MARKET ENTRY STRATEGY FOR TUNISIAN MARKET. Choice of Market: Accelerating India's export growth to the Middle East and Africa (MEA) provides an opportunity to add 1-2 percentage points of GDP growth to our economy. India's exports to MEA went up seven times over the 2004 level to about $60 billion in 2010. This was significantly faster than India's overall exports, which went up about five times to $250 billion at the same time. The share of this region in India's total exports has gone up from about 18% to almost 25%. We still have barely scratched the surface of MEA's true potential. In years when retaining the 8%+ GDP growth is such a challenge, focusing on MEA exports makes a whole lot of sense. Currently, our exports to MEA are lopsided, with about half our exports going to a single country, the UAE. This fact seems odd, considering the UAE is one of the smallest countries in MEA in terms of population, till we understand that the UAE plays a role as a trade conduit to other countries in the region. However, it also shows the enormous potential we have if we market our products and services directly to these countries. In Middle East we have countries like Iran , Iraq and Sudan. Iran, which is one of the largest markets in the region, contributes a tiny $2 billion, or 3%, to our exports to the region. Iran has...

...2. LITERATURE REVIEW. In the context of India’s tea export, there exists vast literatures .But for this study we have included some of the important empirical works which are matched with our objectives. Chand and Tiwari,(1991),analyzead growth and instability of India’s export and import of agricultural commodities. Jaganathan , (1992) , in his paper examined the instabilities of export earnings of selected groups and selected commodities and all the commodities from the period 1974-75 to 1989-1990. Pal , (1992) , analyzed the magnitude , causes and effects of instability of agricultural export earnings of India for the period 1979 to 1989.Subramaniam , (1995) , analyzed the impact of fluctuations in tea production and exports on international tea trade .He articulated that India plays a significant role in world tea trade , being the world’s largest producer , consumer , and exporter . Therefore , fluctuations in India’s tea production , consumption and exports are enough to disturb international tea trade . Aiello , (1999) , analyzed that the effects of export earnings instability on economic growth of developing countries has long interested economists for several reasons . Reddy , (2001) , examined global demand for and supply of tea by estimating semi – log trends separately using data of the recent past , 1974 to 1988 , on the area under cultivation of tea , production , export and retention of tea for domestic consumption . Kawawate

...Kakawate Leaf: An Effective Pesticide Worms, bugs and other rice pests are an enigma to many farmers as these are threats to rice production. To most farmers, commercial insecticides and pesticides are the most effective and readily available pest controls. What they don’t realize is that these cost them added expenses not to mention the bad effects of these chemicals to health and environment. Dr. Alfredo R. Rabena, head of the Research and Development Office of the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan City, Ilocos, has discovered a solution. He found that the leaves of kakawate tree or Mexican Lilac (Glinicidia sepium) contains coumarins, an effective botanopesticide. To prepare the solution, chop the kakawate leaves and let these soak overnight to extract coumarins. Using a strainer, separate the leaves from the solution. Spray the solution to the ricefields. The best time to apply it is from eight o’ clock to nine o’clock in the morning and from five o’clock to six o’clock in the afternoon as worms and pests are coming out from the leaves at these times. So the solution would be more effective to use. If applied early, it wouldn’t be that effective as pests are still hibernating. And if used when the sun’s heat is too hot, it wouldn’t be that effective also as pest would hide. Since kakawate is a legume, says Rabena, its leaves are rich in nitrogen, an important soil nutrient. Hence, the discarded leaves can be applied to the field as an organic fertilizer. He...

Rice Farming

...Rice-fish farming systems in China Both rice and fish cultivation have long histories in Asia, where many species and varieties of each originated and were first developed for human use. Fish can be raised in rice fields, either concurrently with the rice crop or in rotation with rice. Ricefish farming can also be practised at different intensities. Not only do rice-fish systems use one habitat to produce both an important grain and a protein resource, but they also promote some very beneficial interactions: rice plants provide shade for fish, while fish oxygenate the water. The systems also minimize risks for resource-poor farmers, protect natural resources and promote biodiversity. As world rice production increases, so too does the adoption of rice-fish farming systems. THE SITUATION THE SITUATION Rice is the dominant staple crop of tropical Asia, where it has a long history of domestication and a rich diversity of cultivated ecotypes based on three types of Oryza sativa (indica, japonica and javanica), which are cultivated in different agro-ecological zones for their differing growth, grain and yield characteristics. There are four basic rice agro-ecosystems in China, each with its own peculiar edaphic conditions: irrigated ecosystems, terrace ecosystems, lowland rainfed ecosystems, and flood-prone (very deep water) ecosystems. In addition, many freshwater fish species originated in tropical Asia, especially carps, catfishes and air-breathing fishes. In China there...
