...at E3 in 2013, Dice and EA have been working collaboratively to produce possibly the best, modern star wars game to ever hit the gaming market. A trailer was revealed back in April of 2015 showing some in game engine cinematics, teasing some of the immense environments from the star wars universe. However this created an uproar of angry gamers on the internet complaining that the trailer did not represent what they may be seeing visually in the game. And in response, yesterday, at EA's E3 conference in LA, the team from sweden finally were able to silence their haters and blew them away with an incredible gameplay trailer featuring the map hoth on the multiplayer game mode walker assault. The trailer begins inside a hoth echo base on the rebels side, first highlighting that all footage was recorded off a PS4, and from what i can initially tell, the graphics look outstanding. It can be noted that the footage is from pre alpha which shows that graphics and performance in the game will be enhanced before the game ships late November 2015. The trailer throws you straight into the battle with familiar recognisable faces with the customisable character option where you can decide what face you want from the variety of races in the star wars universe. EA DICE went back to the archives of Lucasfilm and Skywalker Sound, pulling the models, props, and sound effects used in the original trilogy of films. They were then captured and integrated into the game, with the hopes of creating one...

Star Wars

...Episode IV: A New Hope Far off in a distant galaxy, the starship belonging to Princess Leia, a young member of the Imperial Senate, is intercepted in the course of a secret mission by a massive Imperial Star Destroyer. An imperial boarding party blasts its way onto the captured vessel, and after a fierce firefight the crew of Leia’s ship is subdued. The dark, forbidding figure of Darth Vader appears, brutally interrogating the crew and ordering his stormtroopers to search the ship for the secret documents he believes it is carrying: the technical readouts for the Empire’s mightiest weapon—a planet-sized battle station called the Death Star. In the confusion, Princess Leia slips away and hides the secret documents, as well as a recorded plea for help, in the memory of R2-D2, a maintenance droid (robot). Leia is taken prisoner, but R2 gets away in an escape pod, along with his best friend, the protocol droid C-3PO. After crash-landing on the planet below, a barren, desert world called Tatooine, the droids set off in search of civilization but soon quarrel over the way to go. R2 insists that he has a mission to perform, but C-3PO wants no part of such an adventure. The two droids go their separate ways but are soon reunited when they are both captured by Jawas, child-sized scavengers who trade in droids and technological scraps. The Jawas sell the droids to Owen Lars, a moisture farmer on a remote homestead. Owen’s nephew, young Luke Skywalker, cleans the droids and, as he does...

Loyalist or Rebel

...James bond Mrs. simmons 05/04/2013 Loyalist or Rebel During the Mid seventeen hundreds some colonists, know as the rebels, started to question the British parliament. The British parliament did not treat the colonist equally as those that lived in England. The British parliament would impose taxes and laws that the colonists did not favor which would lead to riots like the Boston Massacre and eventually the American Revolution. But, what started it all was “taxation without representation”, as most colonists would put it. The colonists did not want to part from mother England. All they wanted was to be treated equally as the citizen that lived in England. But, England did not heed their cry and imposed more taxes. Taxes were imposed on everyday items such as stamps, tea, paper, glasses, etc., this was known as the revenue act. Most, colonists did not approve of this and some formed groups that boycotted British goods. One of these famous groups is the Son of Liberty, lead by Samuel Adams, in Massachusetts. To stop these boycotting issues more troops were requested by Massachusetts’s governor, Thomas Hutchinson. More soldiers came, but this only made things worse. On March 5, 1770 the Boston Massacre took place. In this massacre only 5 people were killed, which isn’t really a massacre. The Boston Massacre broke out because little kids where throwing snowballs at the British customs guard. And soon a large crowd gathered around and started rioting. The guard called for...

The Woman Rebel

..."The Woman Rebel" and The Fight for Birth Control During fourteen years experience as a trained nurse, I found that a great percentage of women's diseases were due to ignorance of the means to prevent conception. I found that quackery was thriving on this ignorance, and that thousands of abortions were being performed each year-- principally upon the women of the working class. Since the laws deter reliable and expert surgeons from performing abortions, working women have always been thrown into the hands of the incompetent, with fatal results. The deaths from abortions mount very high. I found that physicians and nurses were dealing with these symptoms rather than their causes, and I decided to help remove the chief cause by imparting knowledge to prevent conception, in defiance of existing laws and their extreme penalty. I sent out a call to the proletarian women of America to assist me in this work, and their answers came by the thousands. I started The Woman Rebel early in 1914. The first issue of the magazine was suppressed. Seven issues out of nine were suppressed, and although sent out as first-class mail, the editions were confiscated. The newspapers--even the most radical-- declined to give this official tyranny any publicity. In August, 1914, a Federal Grand Jury returned three indictments against me, based on articles in the March, May and July issues of The Woman Rebel. The articles branded as "obscene" merely discussed the question and contained no information...

Starwars and Gangsterism

...George Lucas managed to illuminate the world in 1977, with his mesmerising and delightful rousing adventure, Star Wars. A story of an epic struggle between the defiant good alliance and the malicious powerful evil empire, this sci-fi classic is charged with spectacle and adventure. Its evocative sound track and its avant-garde, eye-popping special effects, without a doubt, proclaimed it a revolutionist. Lucas paid homage and terrifically borrowed clichés and themes from other movie genres and synthesised them together. This, therefore, created a cultural phenomenon that is to this day universally revered by anyone and everyone. In this glorious fantasy, even Gangster Films contrived to lure themselves right at the beginning. In one of the first scenes, we see guards alarmed from the noise of a space craft that has no intention in making a silent entry. As they stand prepared, holding their guns, a medium shot of a door being forced open with fusing lasers, informs us intruders are moments away from invading the shuttle. Fuming explosives jumps into the screen, tearing the door down. Still at a medium shot, Storm Troopers barge in shooting relentlessly. At an eye-level, we can see the submissive sentinels being attained and falling to the ground, helpless. The Troopers then nonchalantly walks over the attained at a low angle, similar to how gangsters would treat their victims. Obviously insufficient and powerless, the remaining guards run away. In walks Darth Vader in a full...

Star Wars Conspircy

...Alfredo Sigala Conspiracy Theory Death Star Attack Introduction We’ve all heard the Death Star attack. We all know about Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance and how they were able to steal the plans of the Death star to find its weakness. Then mounted a foolhardy attack on the most powerful, well-defended battle station ever built. And we’ve all seen the video of the one-in-a-million shot that resulted in a massive chain reaction that not just damaged, but completely obliterated that massive technological wonder. Like many, I believed what i saw during the attack. But as I watched the video again, I began to realize that all was not as it seemed. And the more I questioned the official story, the more clear it became. Like many citizens, I have many questions that I would like answered: was the mighty Imperial government really too incompetent to prevent a handful of a ragtag team of rebels from destroying one of their most prized assets? Or are they hiding something from us? Who was really behind the attack? Why did they want the Death Star destroyed? No matter what the answers, we have a problem. We all heard the story of the rebels stealing the plans for the Death Star. Darth Vader chasing down Princess Leia for stealing the plans. The chase was stop at Tatooine when Darth Vader Star Destroyer was able to blast Leias cruiser. Princess Leia was then captured by Darth Vader on her ship, Tantive IV. But before getting captured by Vader she was able to give the plans...

Mexican Wars

...Good vs. Evil By: Maria Domingo 3rd block- Ms. Best Good always seems to overcome the evil in every story, novel, movie etc. In both Beowulf and Star wars there is a hero and a villain. Their stories each have a meaning on what is good and evil, most importantly sacrifices. They fight for what they believe and to save their own people. In Beowulf, King Hrothgar builds a great Mead-hall called Herot, where his people and warriors can celebrate and share stories. Despite their celebrations, Grendel, one of Evil’s sons, terrorizes them and kills them every night he hears them happy and cheerful. One day Beowulf, a Geatish warrior, comes upon Demark to defeat Grendel. He fights him unarmed and defeats him by tearing off the monster’s arm. Grendel is mortally wounded and dies in his swamp. However Grendel’s mother seeks revenge, killing one of Hrothgar’s most trusted advisors. Beowulf still fights back by killing her as well. Years pass and a dragon comes to terrorize Denmark, Beowulf also defeats this monster, but dies in the process. He had given all his strength and courage to save his people. In Star Wars IV, Darth Vader had intercepted Princess Leia’s ship and interrogated the crew and ordering his stormtroopers to search the ship for secret documents he believe is there. Princess Leia gets a message in one of her robots, R2, and lets them escape so someone can get the cry for help. Eventually Luke Skywalker finds R2 and stumbles across a bit of the...

Rebel with a Cause

...The Blind Leading the Blind It is a biological fact that the eyes are merely receptors for visual stimuli; the brain is where the real work is done. There are some fun experiments that prove this fact. The “vase or face” image and the “Hermann grid illusion” are two examples (Eye tricks). Did you see the vase or face first? Those dots seemingly flashing across a grid of black squares make my head spin. These simple experiments suggest that what we see is more, or less, than meets the eye. Interpretation of visual stimuli happens automatically for most. Just point your eyes in the direction of what you want to see and the image instantaneously appears. The inner, invisible, intangible characteristics require more than receptors and neurons to visualize. Thought and personal investment are required in the visualization of the intangible. In “Cathedral”, Raymond Carver suggests blindness is often an affliction of the heart and soul and not the eyes. Raymond Carver’s “Cathedral” is a short story about a husband’s journey to enlightenment. A longtime friend of the wife comes to visit after the death of his wife. The wife meets the blind man, Robert, ten years prior while looking for a summer job. She becomes his assistant. The wife reads briefs, reports, and helps organize the blind man’s office. Over the years the wife and blind man keep in touch; corresponding by sending audio tapes through the mail (Carver). The visit from the blind...

Rebel Without a Cause

...rebellion and general angst. This attitude comes from the teen’s inability to come to terms with the ending of an idealistic and easy childhood, and take on the challenges of adulthood. This concept is the general basis for most other cinematic themes in teen-based films, including those of Armageddon, suicide, homicide, and masculinity crisis. Each of these topics is portrayed with the attitude of apathy among teens; that the world and life itself is destined to end anyway, and that caring is futile. Films like these typically portray teens as unwilling to conform to the pressures of society and looming adulthood, and that their indifference often leads them down paths of destruction, for themselves and others. The classic 1955 film, Rebel Without a Cause, is the quintessential “teen struggle” film, displaying almost all themes discussed within the article. The film’s protagonist, Jim, faces conflict throughout the film mainly with his family and other authority figures, but also internally. Fighting to prove himself with new students at school, Jim carelessly risks his life in a high-speed car race, ending in the death of his competitor, displaying his apathy towards his own safety and that of the other driver. Once...

Racism in College Football

...but legislators threatened to withdraw funds from schools violating this unwritten law. The university of Mississippi, ranked number two, would not play Michigan State, ranked number one, in the bowl game to determine the nation’s top football team in 1961” (Paul 284-5). This long and fought off integration of the university’s football program derives from its deep history of racism. Many of the predominant and well thought of symbols of Ole Miss football are directly related to slavery, white supremacy and racism. The Confederate flag was seen at all football games and carried by both fans and cheerleaders. The lyrics of the school’s unofficial fight song, “Dixie,” tell of the times of the slavery ridden South. The team’s nickname, the Rebels, arose as a result of the Ole Miss students who sacrificed their lives for the Confederate army. The nickname for the school itself was the name for Ole Master’s wife during the slavery age (Oriards 80). Michael Oriards explains it best...
